FEATURE: blackhats - Another Reel One Entertainment Movie

This will be the offical thread for the next movie I will be producing.

I wrote the script as well with my producing partner as I did with our last movie (Step Off).

Reel One Entertainment, and Supremacy Films, have jointly announced today it will begin production on a new crime thriller, blackhats in early fall of 2011 with Errol Sadler (Step Off) to star. Laron Austin (Step Off) is set to direct the film based on the original screenplay written by Eddie Singleton (Step Off) and Martin Kelley (Step Off, Immigration Tango). blackhats will be produced by Eddie Singleton, Martin Kelley and Bennie Swint with Supremacy’s Errol Sadler.

blackhats is about a reformed, hot-tempered bounty hunter, Elisha Fleming, who finds his new harmonious life as a Fugitive Recovery Agent threatened, when he must track down a group of cyber hackers before they are assassinated by a rival bounty hunter while also trying to prevent a massive viral attack that could collapse America’s economic foundation.

Sadler recently co-starred in “Step Off”, distributed by Grindstone/Lionsgate Entertainment. Errol partnered with Symmetry Entertainment and C. Clear Cinema to Produce “Echo at 11 Oak Drive”, a feature length film that tells three stories that transpire under the same roof over three eras of time. He has also teamed up with Shadow Motion Picture to produce their latest Action packed feature length film “Fixer”, which is based on the sisterhood of female assassins.


So, more inforation on casting, posters, shooting, etc. will occur soon.

What is he reformed from?
 
Hope you stick to making sure the hacker 'lingo' is accurate. I hate it when they say "We can't track him because he's running through a reverse uplink with an encrypted IP", instead of just getting a real IT guy to give them a real explanation. Really takes me out of the vibe...
 
i used to be a hacker haha - eh - everyone says that so that probably doesnt mean much.

Hope we do okay at that. Got some friends who know the world better than me who will help me out with the lingo.

Ha! You're right, everybody seems to be saying that. In auditions, some of the actors said they used to be hackers and our producing partner on this one let's it out at the last audition (after a particularly good one) that he "used to be a hacker"...I'm like, okay? I know some cats who maybe still are...though I assume not as infamous as the ones we're showcasing in the script.

But, I hope the actors who don't get cast who claim to be hackers really aren't or I'll need a LIFE-LOCK membership pronto :)

Haha, they made a movie about my crew and I was on the cover of magazines like Wired for hacking and Tv shows - but everyone thinks they are a hacker - taping into something good here! Me - **** hacking! Now i write and direct!

Thanks guys for keeping an eye on this thread. Been buried in Pre-Production and hard to put anything out just yet until it's all finalized.

Got some great locations, really good cast (90% cast), and a crazy ambitious schedule and location list.

So, we'll be officially starting principle photography DEC. 4th!

Keep your fingers crossed for us to keep putting it all together as we juggle it all at the moment.

I definitely will be thorough with updates soon.

Thanks for the compliment, but I'll have PLENTY issues :)

We'll get 'em handled and do our best to make something good.

It's ambitious as hell, but we've got a really good cast and crew so I know we'll make it to the other side and get it in the can. Hope we can build off the distribution success we had with the last one too...but as you know, that's the real KEY to keeping it moving.
