Black Magic PocketHD and 4K production camera

I wouldn't care if it was shaped like a pineapple, it's S35 compressed RAW 4k for 4k with a global shutter!

Doubt that. The internals are way different. It's just most small cameras all end up looking like similar little boxes, it even looks similar to my Canon Point and Shoot. The Body is going to NEED to be very well constructed metal, like the NEX... considering the lenses that will be mounted.

Well Metabones is coming out with their MFT speedbooster this month. The smaller camera uses active MFT, so there's that.

That said, UltraHD is 3840x2160, it is a marketing term, instead of saying QFHD/QuadHD. So it probably does both 4096x2160 and 3840x2160, it will be nice if they also throw in the ability to do 1920x1080 using a 2x2 pixel binning, like what the C100/C300 does.
 
Sorry, I was thinking of just 16mm. But at least 2/3" is smaller, not larger. 14.54mm vs 11mm diagonal is not that far off. I don't know about lens power though.
 
This is an "active" m4/3's mount. that means the 7-14 and the 9-18 will be hot on this camera . What's the focal length conversion factor of s16 ?
 
Funny how all Sony had to show were a couple of empty 4k shells. Canon are sure to announce another cripple.
 
Interested to see what kind of SD card I will have to use for ProRes / RAW on the pocket camera...those are pretty high bitrates, no?

Lol, I do wonder how other "smaller" companies like Red and DBolex will react to this release. The reactions would be interesting of course for different reasons, since Red is established and DBolex is trying to break into the game.

You should bold those quotation marks. Seems "official" but not really official official. I'm guessing we'll get something early tomorrow.

Although I have already attached a 2/3" lens to my GH3 & have a Lanparte battery pinch for servo power, so if the pocket camera is m4/3 I'm set. Though it would be nice to have everything built in.

Okay, I want both to go along with the BCC EF I already go. When can i put in my order? These prices are unbelievable for what they are putting out. BM is going to end up being like Apple, I'm going to end up collecting one of every product they make!
