C100: Black Balance

I have mapped it to a button. Works fine with lens cap on.

Just to clear this up, there is no way to directly map the ABB to a button on the camera. You can map the "My Menu" feature to a button and then add the ABB to the My Menu items. This is a bit faster way to access several features that you use a lot.

It's not the regular menu button assignment.

Heading to NYC and Brooklyn tomorrow for a shoot. If I don't run into you there , I'll look it up when I get back (it's some convoluted process I can't remember...)

I've got some other not-main-menu assignments like TC (preset/reset), shutter degree/fractions (for when I go to 1/125 60i for slo mo), and delete last clip (my fave!).

ah cool, hit me up if you want to meet and compare notes, i'm just above brooklyn. i'll PM you my contact

I quickly found my earlier post because I started the thread. I originally posted because I found you could assign Delete Last Clip, which others had thought was not possible.

They are C300 tutorials, but everything applies to the C100.

Well, turns out you can assign a Delete Last Clip button- it's just not offered as a selection.

As the Assign Button Feature tutorial shows, you can assign any function from any menu.

At 7:30, it shows how to scroll down to User Setting, which gets you into the entire menu, where you can choose anything in the menu, including Delete Last Clip.

The Ten Tutorial Topics (TTT) include
- Exposure
- Gamma
- Custom Picture Menu
- Creating a Custom Picture
- Assign Button Feature
- Best Practices for Recording
- Multi Camera Setup
- Wireless Shooting
- Transferring Custom Pictures
- Audio Features

I ended up assigning:
1- Bars and Tone
2- ABB
3- Delete Last Clip
4-Time Code (so I can easily reset TC or go between Record Run and Free Run)
5- Shutter (to switch from 180 degrees to 1/125 or 1/250 if shooting 60i for slo mo)
6- Record Review

Hope this helps!!!

No. I press a button and it black balances. I have mapped it to button 5.

Well, you both are absolutely correct. At the bottom of the assign button menu is the "user setting" and that allows you to access any menu setting. I now have the ABB assigned to button 5 as well. Missed this completely. Thanks.

Black balancing for what it's worth, honestly should be done as often as possible with the c100 i've found.. Annoying that it takes so long, but just do it and have peace of mind. Have had some VERY noisy shots even in daylight before from poor black balancing technique

Yes, and at the very least do it after large ISO changes and definitely after flying with the camera (radiation at altitude can cause issues), and after big temp swings. The times I forgot I have seen points of color form that looked like dead pixels. ABB clears that.
