C100: Big changes coming to 5DMK4 - Thoughts?

I realize this isn't C series camera related, but I feel like it's relevant, particularly with my concern.

Here's the update in question: http://www.canonrumors.com/crop-fac...os-5d-mark-iv-included-in-coming-update-more/

Looks like a pretty huge overhaul video wise if this is true. I'm especially curious about the addition of log, and what this might pair nicely with.

I doubt anyone here has any additional information than I do, but I'm wondering if that extends to log 2/3, and/or whether it reflects newer Canon science in C300 MKII, C700, etc. vs. older C100 colour science.

I'd love to have a 5D that could function as a b-cam to my C300 MKII and a camera I can take with me traveling, etc. Not sure if I'm dreaming too big though.

It's all been covered in other threads already...no one knows and right now it's just a waiting game.

Official announcement supposedly coming the 20th.

Sorry, I didn't mean it like that...just meant people can only speculate for now...we'll know more soon. I am pumped for it.

Canon Rumors is only right some of the time and the details are often wrong. Would be cool if it happens though, might make video people re-consider it as a b cam.

It's a win-win either way because he's positive about C-Log, which will be great...everything else would be a bonus.

P.S. I hope the C-Log will be some form of #2 or #3 that's unique to the 5D Mark IV the way C-Log #1 looks on the 1DC.

The C500 has the same C-Log as the 1DC and they both look different.

If the 5D Mark IV ends up looking like the 1DC C-Log (with its own unique look) and DPAF works flawlessly, it will be fantastic.

My initial thought regarding the new crop factor and the downscaling was that it sounds too good to be true.

My second thought was, they better roll a lot of these features onto the 1DXii if any prove to be true.

Agreed, it seems pretty out of step with Canon.

Noticed you're working with the 1DX MKII + A7S.. Can either of them play well with your C300 MKII footage?

Sony A7RII has had it for two years already and a bunch of other inexpensive consumer/prosumer cameras (GH5, EM MKII, A6300/6500, NX-1) have had a full sensor 20 MPX+ readout.

So, I just read online that the next 5D model will skip V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X and instead go all the way to XI.

These "features" sound very video forum centric and a little too good to be true. While it would be great to listen to customers' needs, we are dealing with Canon here who could have made the camera correctly in the first place...

It's April 2nd in Russia.

In honor of Canon, Vlad renamed April 2nd "April 1st MKII".

(Yakov Smirnoff retired far too early ... there's so much material to milk)

Edit MKI - a belated late edit to reword the punchline.

And Sony A9 has self-crippled its video portion too.

The Japanese deal-making continues.

Do you know what is gonna be native iso for c-log in mk4 ?? Is it gonna be the same like in c100 line , 850iso ??
What about wide DR ?
I am always using wide dr instead of c-log . I was always thinking that c-log is too much ( flat) for 8bit .
Did you find better roll off highlights in c-log ?
