currently i just start a new project, i use the avchd 1080p 24p and then i bring the video into timeline and edit...

what is the best way to prevent frame skips, ghosting and blur? whats the best format and settings to maintain the highest quality?

also what is the best way to export for dvd?

thanks for the help..

99.99% of the ppl, including me, convert 7D/5DII/T1i to another format. I use neoscene codec wrapped in .avi format.

you'll hit a brick wall trying to edit the .mov footages.

good luck.

yeah? why not? I just started using it when I bought my 7D and it seems to work well for me... but maybe I didn't know all the pros and cons... probably more cons than pros? I'd really like to know... would you mind to share?

He got his camera 4 days ago, and now he's an expert on codecs.

Avid's DNxHD is an excellent codec... just ask the people who used it to cut Avatar, or the Hurt Locker, or Transformers 2, or Ironman, or 1000 other Hollywood movies over the past 6 years. Hell, Apple borrowed it, watered it down and called it ProRes.

But, there are two primary drawbacks to using it in Premere (or Sony Vegas). So I'll let Craven explain since he's the one saying not to use it.

I hope he meant he doesn't have Avid so he wouldn't think that he couldn't use that codec... we might have misunderstood him... if so, sure, you can use the codec even if you don't use avid to edit it!

umm...relax man...i meant "I dont use avid media composer" i would have presumed you would have understood that by my last post.. i never intended "dont" use avid....

that would make me a fool, as i have a recording studio and i have pro tools and a full recording rig based on m-audio and all avid gear...LOL

i love avid...but i also love adobe audition for audio too, and adobe has a nice suite, the cs4 suite, audition, premiere pro, photoshop, encoder, encore...its great...but each to there own...

exactly...i use premiere pro cs4, how do i use it with that? cause i know that the sony ex1 uses xdcam ex and there is settings in premiere for it...

Google MPEG Streamclip and download it, then use it to transcode the clips using the Avid codec.
Then once everything transcoded (converted), just import them into Premiere CS4 and start editing them!

ok, what settings are to retain 100% quality? and is the codec free?

As I posted it before, the codec is FREE from the Avid website.
Also go to sub forum for the 7D and T2i then do a search on MPEG Streamclip or dnxhd codec, it'll give you plenty to read on about how to use it... and just play around with it...

You might want to try what i posted too as you have all the tools you need already with adobe premiere.

You can't retain 100% quality; it's not a lossless codec.

It's in the category of visually lossless or near lossless.

You won't be able to tell the difference unless you pixel peep or use metrics
