Best SDHC card?

You drop frames? Are you sure - have you viewed the same footage back in your camera? Dropped frames in NLE are another slightly more common problem - but I don't think I've ever heard a report of dropped frames right off the camera.

Nope.

I can play the footage in the camera and it drops frames. No pattern or reason why.

I used Kingston cards which I thought to be of high quality. Next time Panasonic all the way.

I don't know if this is a regular thing, but I would NOT recommend any purchase from Newegg. I ordered a card 10 days ago and it's still not here. They ship with DHL, who have no idea what they are doing! Best I can tell, the package was shipped to Boston (I'm in NY), then dropped off at the USPS (another winner in my book!)...then...well, now it's lost.

I'm now told it will take 5-7 business days to get my credit card refunded.
Newegg blows! I'll never purchase from them again.

(thanks for letting me vent....cheers!)

Really? I've bought thousands of dollars of stuff from them over the years and have never had any issues with them. Also, from the sounds of it, it's the shipper's fault, not Newegg. I always have them ship to me via UPS.

I am waiting for my SD cards to arrive, two previous orders have been smooth using EggSave. But I agree with Mike, USPS often screw up the shipping, that is why they are cheap and close to total failure. You get what you paid for!

All of this talk about New Egg, and I have never had a problem with their shipping...but to get back on topic...

I have several OCZ Gold cards and really like them. They are 150x, which is very fast, compared to most cards that do not even list a speed. I had been buying them from New Egg, but they have been out of stock, so I did an Amazon search and found them for about the same price, around $45 for 16gb.

Another card that I use that has a fast speed, 150x is the Delkin eFILM PRO, which is around $45 for the 16gb card.

I just got the new PQI and Patriot 16GB SDHc cards, will test them tonight and post my results here! :-) They ship fast and reliably.

A-Data I bought from them crapped out, I sent it back asking for another brand, they sent me another A-Data, though supposedly from its higher lineup (or just a different label).

Sorry to hear that, I just put my eFilm through another day/night of filming and had no issues.

Arron what happens when you plug it into the reader/computer? pc or mac?

I have not seen the Fujifilm Class 6 SDHC cards mentioned at all. I was thinking of getting a couple, as Fuji should be a reliable name, but I guess branding isn't what it used to be. Has anyone used these?

EDIT: Additional question. I also read that Class 4 is fast enough for HMC150. If that is so, then what is the advantage of getting Class 6 or 10? And are there any disadvantages? Would a Class 4 card be more or less reliable than a Class 6, all other things being equal?

I just ordered Klix from Joesoft.com (OW Computing has it on for $10) It says it recovers video as well as stills from corrupted memory cards.

I don't have any corrupt cards but I thought I'd shoot something, re-format the card then see if Klix can recover it.

If that works, I'll be looking for a corrupt card to test out.

Klix is an incredible software. It will recover data from a reformated card in its sleep. Just as long as the card hasn't been overwritten. It pulled stuff from my cards that much more expensive recovery programs could not.

I use some generic ones from Microcenter here in Chicago as well as Extreme IIIs. I don't know why an SDHC card would ever crap out. That's like saying your USB card crapped out. The only major difference between cards should be the speed at which the data transfers as I understand it.

Manufacturing defects of whatever nature.
