Best Nikon Adapter

I'm looking for a good Nikon adapter to use with a sigma or Tokina Lens, that allows for aperture control. Novaflex the only option?

Adaptimax is an excellent option

+1 I finally got my Adaptimax, and it really is worth it over the cheap piece of s**t kipon adaptor I was using because it was all that was in stock anywhere in NYC when I got my AF100. The Adaptimax is rock solid and fits perfect, no lens wobble at all (I can rack focus back and forth quickly on my 200mm and not not worry about image shift as there is less play than the native m4/3 lens I have, which is essentially none), the flange distances are perfect so there are no focus or infinity issues. It is a great adapter and makes the AF100 feel like it was made for nikon mounted lenses. If you seriously want to shoot with nikons, it is the best. I only use nikons 99% of the time, and having a good mount was an instant game changer. Be prepared to pay, but really, it is worth it. Seriously, there is less play in that adapter than native m4/3 lenses (basically none). Still getting over that I paid over $400 with tax at B&H for a piece of metal, but it really is worth the price, and you can see and feel the quality of the workmanship.

My only wish is that the plus adapter had an optional shorter screw available for the aperture adjustment (for when throwing it on a GH1 for instance), but we are talking nit-picking, and really, it is a well engineered (abet pricy) adapter.

And puts nifty scratches on your gear if you don't remember to unscrew it :-)

I avoided that issue and removed the screw and then filled the thread hole.

Oh thats right..I dont need to use it because my lenses have aperture rings.

;-)

Yea, but you learn that real quick though... :-) It is much nice than the ring on the other ones, as you can really easily fine tune the iris, you just have to remember to check the screw and not force your lens on it if you feel resistance. Worthwhile trade-off IMHO, I just wish it was a bit shorter though so I could put the camera down when it is on a GH1, lol.

Maybe so, but you are missing out on the fun of the tokina 11-16!!! ;-)

For Nikon I have a Novoflex MFT/NIK, ($300.00) and happy with it, nice and tight does what it should well. The Fotodiox works but it's a little loose. Both have models that allow aperture control, the Fotodiox ($30.00) is loose so when using the aperture ring on the adapter the learns wobbles a little, so no adjustment while you are rolling.
Nothing available in the mid-price range for now.

Thanks for the possitive feedback on our Adaptimax range of adapters. We strive to be the best we possibly can be, and yes I admit our adapters are not cheap. But they are not churned out by the million, they are high precision adapters and every one of them is hand finished and guarenteed for 12 months no quibble.

As for the thumbscrew, I will look into if we can offer a shorter version for those that require it. We are producing a shorter thumbscrew for the Sony F3 adapters.

As a little present to DVXUser members, I will open our 10% discount code again for a couple of weeks. This gives DVXUsers a good saving on our products. Just enter the product code "10percentdvx" at checkout for the saving. This code will be valid until June 18th 2011.

Best regards
Steve

Music to my ears. You can sign me up for a shorter screw if I can order it as an add on (at a reasonable price, no $100 screws please....). Make it like $10 or $20 to buy a nice shorter version to add on, and I will order one the day it is listed.

Otherwise, I love my mount!!!! (Kinda wish I waited a couple days now to buy it with the discount, but whatever, lol) Especially after dealing with a shitty one for so long, it was a world of difference (especially when you only shoot with nikon glass). It makes my camera feel like it is made for my lens set. Best $400 piece of metal I ever bought, lol (I do understand why you charge what you do, quality has its price.)

I got the adaptimax plus because I wanted to use the sigma/nikon 50-150. Love it. Shorter screw would be awesome.

Got the adaptimax plus and it's rock solid & works great! The screw really allows you to fine tune exposure. Love the possibilty of now using Nikkor G glass after being resistant at first.

Ok, so what option are there for an adapter for Nikon if you don't need the aperture ring? At the moment I have the Kipon to m/43 and there is play on a few of my vintage primes.

I had the same one. The Kipon really is a piece of crap. Get the adaptimax plus (the one with the screw), and forget about it.

FYI when I first purchased my camera I needed a nikon adapter straight away and picked up a cheap one from a local store. It had some play and a dodgy disengaging latch (which actually caused a lens to fall off, but that's another story)...anyway I found that a couple of strategically placed small squares of electrical tape on the mounting surface have fixed the play and rendered it usable while I wait for my novoflex to arrive.
