hey mates, i'm using a 7D but i don't know very much about macros...i'm going to shoot a story in a bar where i want to use some macros (face actor/objects...) i will shoot with a tokina 11-16 and a zeiss planar T 50mm 1.4, can someone help me wich macro should i use to mix with these two lenses? thanks.

If you have a spare grand get the 100mm f2.8 macro L IS (thread title did ask for the best) otherwise there is the 100mm non-L, the 60mm macro or use a diopter

To pick a macro lens you need to know two things. How much magnification do you need, and how much working distance. Magnification is a function of lens design. Canon has a 50 mm that goes to 1/2 size (with an adapter to go to life size), the EF-S 60 mm that goes life size, the 65 mm that goes 1-5x life size and the 100 mm and 180 mm that go to life size. Some of the 70-300mm zooms also go to 1/2 life size. You can increase magnification by using bellows/extension tubes and close-up lenses (diopters).

Working distance is a function of focal length. The longer the focal length, the larger the working distance. I'm citing these numbers from memory, so they may be off, but I believe at life size a 50-60 mm lens has a working distance of 2-3 inches, a 100 mm 5-6 inches, and 180mm 10-12 inches.

hey bigsony where can i get macro tubes, compatible with zeiss lens? thanks.

Macro tubes are designed for the camera mount, not the lens. Assuming your Zeiss is already Canon mount or you have the adapter, then any EF mount macro/extension tube will work.
