Best internet host? Who do YOU use?

I just recently got fed up with gate.com and experienced way too much down time with their MYSQL databases. I'm currently using godaddy.com's free hosting service, but obviously I don't want the ads placed on the top of my page forever.

So my question to you is: What is, in your opinion, the best web hosting company out there? Also, who do you use and why?

I'd like to run Apache on my own computer here at my house and just leave it in a closet, but unfortunately that's just not a possibility yet.

They look alright, but I can't seem to find storage space or bandwidth information.
I'm probably missing something.

Also, I'd prefer to pay per month. It seems really gimmicky for a company to charge you for 24 months or 36 months at a time (or else pay a ton of money in set up fees).
 
I have several accounts with GoDaddy. Their customer service and tech depts. have always been responsive.

I use doteasy mainly because a family member reccomended it. Havent had a problem over the past two years I've used them. Does everything I need and seems to be quite reliable.
 
I use 1and1. I've heard mixed reviews about their customer service, however I've never had any trouble with them (They have been extremly solid and reliable) so I haven't needed to call them.

I can vouch for 1and1 ! I can not vouch for godaddy !! try to find a clean hoster , its not easy...1and1 is clean!
 
I don't know how to do website stuff very well, so I just bought a template from bludomain.com and it comes with hosting. It was a major pain to get my videos working, but mostly just user error (me). It looks nice and it works, so I'm happy.
 
Another for 1and1. Only issue I've ever had is getting the occasional email bounced back because my recipient has them on a block list. But that's like, 5 emails out of several thousand I've sent through the years. Also, they're cheap. At least for what I'm doing.
 
I'm using DreamHost right now, and I'm liking them so far. I got in on a special (it might still be going on) where I got unlimited data and unlimited bandwidth and databases.:thumbup:
 
I use 34sp.com, have had my sites with them for 5-6 years and not had a single problem. They are very qick to answer emails and sort stuff out for you, and the online control panel thing is good.
