Great job Barry! After viewing the trailer, I want to see the whole thing!

You may be right, this may be the best film shot on the 200 to date, much better than Jackass II.
 
check it out... Barry and the cast of Medicine For Melancholy are on the cover of Filmmaker Magazine. The film has a few nominations at the Indie Spirit Awards too.

It's far from a feature film but if you want to see some crazy HVX200 footage of off-road race trucks/cars check out the teaser for our sixth Dezert People DVD we released last year. Most of it was shot with HVX200's but a little HDV and SD onboard cameras were mixed in.

I made this film with my HVX200 I wish I had a later version of the camera but you got to work with what you have. It's with a redrock adaptor, its soft in places and I bust my A** fighting with light but I did choose a film to work on that was deliberatley dark in spots. I suppose, at the end of the day, a good story is a good story. Just as long as the imagery/lighting ect ect doesnt detract from that and supports it.

Actually I just made it for no other reason but to make it. It was my first film, so I wanted to go through the whole process of developing a script and realising it. Of course I wanted to learn as much as possible so I directed it, shot it, lit it, produced it, edited it etc etc. the crew usually consisted of me and one other.
But since making it I think I will submit it to places, least just to get some feedback and constructive views.

i don't mean to be rude, but that's pretty arrogant to claim it the best HVX movie ever made, especially when you literally copied the original story and version almost shot for shot.

with that said, nice use of different lenses. but not much was changed from the original, and as a youtube user said i don't think it warrants a remake but it is good nonetheless
 
I'm being lighthearted Oliax. A little sense of humor goes a long way. Sorry you consider this arrogance.

The film was remade and indeed there are many shots like for like. But the most complimentary comments have been about scenes and narration which never exsisted in the original. I believe this constitutes original material as it must come from somewhere.
Most films are based from other films, some from so many its not possible to point a direct finger. I'm honest about my inspiration and have no quarms with admitting it.

If people want to comment that its not worthy of being remade, it's thier opinion and I'm happy to leave the negative comments left.

Like with most citical comments its best to be taken in perspective of the work that other person has made, if anything. In the majority of cases, others have clearly seen, its more that just a nice use of different lenses.

Try the documentary called "Helvetica" (about the typeface). Shot on the HVX200 by the DP that shot Borat. You can buy/rent it on Blu-Ray, or via iTunes. When I first saw it on Blu-Ray, I thought they shot it on a Varicam. Was shocked to learn it was an HVX.
