Best 3.5mm to 2.5mm cable adapter?

Did some googling and it seems like there are a lot of options for 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapters, but the reviews are all about mobile phone use- can anyone point me to a reliable 3.5mm to 2.5mm (preferably angled) adapter? Thanks.

I don't know if it's "best", but I'm satisfied with this Hosa adapter: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000QU3JN4. It works with my GH2 and Rode VMP. At $1.58, it's a tosser if it doesn't work out.

I use and have had good results with the one you can get at Radio Shack, in the cell phone accessory department.

Maybe I should buy a few then incase one fails. The Hosa looks the best for me, I want angled so I dont break the connection on accident. Funny- it has terrible reviews on amazon.com- but I found it on BH photo and it has great reviews (must be a cellphone application issue). Thanks for the tips guys!

Like Hunter, I was very nervous that a straight adapter would snap off or damage the camera. And the angle adapter gives you a bit more control of the mic cable. Like keeping it out of the way of the LCD when the LCD is swung to the side and tilted.

Regards,

Dan.
Really? Will this hinder the LCD from swiveling? I like this cable's 25db attenuation. If possible, I wanna opt out any adapter.

I agree with the others- an L shaped 2.5mm would reduce the risk of damage to the jack if something bad were to happen. I'd like to see a 6inch coiled 3.5mm to 2.5mm (male to male) stereo cable made. It's ridiculous to pay 40 bucks for a cable when they don't cost more than a buck in parts. All I wanna do is hook up my wireless mic to my camera; trs connectors don't cost THAT much. I'm gonna have to stick with the adapter on this one until I can find someone to make one. Anybody else got any leads?

I was thinking about making them, but the parts (angled 2.5mm) are hard to find. I'm going to give that sescom cable a try just to see if I can get usable audio into the camera from my DR100

In that case doyou really need the expensive Sescom cable? - that's designed for sending line-level signal to the GH2's mic input, so you are paying extra for the 25dB pad. If you are dealing with mic-level signal you may be fine with the much cheaper Hoya 3.5mm-to-2.5mm adapter (especially given that you have 4 steps of level control onboard the GH2).

In my case I did want both line-level input and a rightangle connector, so I bought a 3.5mm-to-3.5mm version of the Sescom, and plugged the camera end into a Hoya rightangle 2.5mm adapter.

I bought a Nokia mobile phone jack, its on a cable which I prefer as adapters that go directly into the body provide no stress relief and can damage the 2.5mm socket on the camera and then your screwed.

I have tried two cables with identical results; both the rocketfish cable from best buy (3.5mm female to 2.5mm male) and the hosa adapter make a solid (left) connection. If I try re-seating the connection, I get the same results. The *only time I am able to get stereo from these adapters is if I pull out the cable 1/16". This is true for both adapters. Either the 2.5mm port on the camera is faulty, or this port accepts some type of proprietary connection. Can anyone tell me from experience if there is a cable that works for this application?

I got two of these right angle adaptors with cable and two of the right angle adapter without cable. The two adaptors without cables are too loosely fit to be used (the plugs seem a bit too small). Those two adapters with cables are perfectly fitted. I heat shrunk the 3.5 socket to the 3.5mm plug of my Sennheiser MKE400 together to make sure there will not be any loose connection due to movement. Works well for me for over a few months now.
