Best 24P portable camera?

I already have a fantastic camera, the Panasonic HVX200. Love it. But many times, it's just too big. I want something I can fit in my packpack, and recored when I'm on the run.

For $899. This camera seems great. Low light, and it shoots 24P. I refuse to shoot interlaced, with the combing artifacts etc....
HD usually takes up 1GB for each minute. and I can't understand why this camera has this as the recording time on a 32GB card? Lower quality?
AVCHD MXP (1920 x 1080): 2.9 hours

And I just wanted to make sure the codec it uses is good enough to be mixed with footage with my HVX200, which uses DVCPRO HD.
This Canon uses AVCHD and MPEG4.

Any suggestions?

I think all of Canon's AVCHD cameras have been able to do 1080p24. I used to have a HF100, which was one of Canon's first AVCHD cams & that could do 24p. It is selling for around $150 on ebay.

I don't look too much at consumer cameras these days, but poke around & you might be able to find something nice. Even used & you'll save a good chunk of change.

The GH2 is a good b-camera to the HVX. The second hand price has finally started to plummet on them too now with the GH4 arriving. I bought mine with only a battery charger for $450 6 months ago and it was a bargain. You often see them going now for that with lens and accessories for that.

I still use my Vixia HV30 with a wide angle attachment from Raynox and has been my standard B-camera on my jib and it works great with my XHA1 footage. I bring my footage in using my matrox mojito card via HDMI and get a 422 input.

AVCHD is a really efficient format. I've had clients get worried on set - "you haven't changed cards all day, did you roll on everything??".

I have some clients that shoot things like tests of firefighting equipment in different countries, asking me what affordable camera to buy so I can do their edits. Really hard to find an "easy" consumer camera that does 24p, last time I searched anyway.

I realize this thread is as old as time but what about the HMC40 as an alternative or simply replacing the HVX200 with the HMC150 which is significantly lighter and smaller. The HVX200 was really a monster.
