Hi Walter
The first thing I did with my Rodes is rip out the curly cable and 3.5mm jack plug...it's really easy...simply disassemble the mic body and get the circuit board out and you will find that the curly cable goes to 3 connectors on the back of the board. Just unsolder that cable making a note of which connector the screen of the cable went to and then replce with a decent 2 core plus screen piece of audio cable and you can cut that to length and solder to a standard XLR plug...it's permanent, secure and it will never give you an issue again!!! Both my Rodes have been rewired to their own XLR pluges and no inter-connectors means no bad connections !!!
