bag/case for my filming gear

so i starting to gather a fair amount of equipment (tripods, monopods, glidetrack, glidecam, fluid head, shoulder rig, audio gear)

i'm just wondering what everyone carries all their gear around in??

... really need to get something soon so i can keep it all together and stay a bit more organised

Tripod/head came with a padded case. Second tripod/head kind of free floats... I probably need to get a smaller tripod bag for that. Slider (DIY) fits in a tripod bag as well, though if you check the DIY indieslider thread there are several storage solutions.

Shoulder rig, matte box, and FF kit stays disassembled in a Pelican 1620. Audio kit packs in a Pelican 1650 (2 wireless systems in a smaller Pelican that fits in the 1650 with everything else). Pelicans are one of the best investment you can make for your gear.

I carry my gear around in a Mercedes Sprinter van.

I bought a suitcase for $15 from a thrift store (that is a Godsend for DIY'ers) and foam (egg crate and pick-n-pluck) from foambymail.com for $40. Later this afternoon, I am going to put all my of camera gear in this case (i.e. 7D with battery grip, 5 lenses, follow focus and parts, filters, external flash for location photo gigs, accessories, Rode VideoMic, with room to spare for rented lenses). I'll report back on how that goes. Until I can afford Pelicans, this is my best option.

My ITE tripod floats but could use a good plastic hard case. My shoulder rig, matte box, and its bits and pieces go in a huge Ikegami case I got off CraigsList, which I packed with large cuts of tough, cheap, thick white foam.

My DSLR and lenses fit into a padded Lowe Pro bag. My monitor and videocamera share another padded case. My cables and audio are in a canvas bag. My shoulder rig and tripods free float. All fit onto a fold up rolling cart and are secured by bungees. I have an Equinox to carry all and any rented equipment.

DIY Foam and Case solution worked very, very well. I will post pictures soon. I fit everything in the case except the VideoMic, which has its own box and is rarely used.

Thanks is due where it is due: [url="http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?244835-Hardcases-For-DIY-custom-foam-equipment-cases&p=2306316&viewfull=1#post2306316"]DIY Case Thread

yeah i'm finding it quite a task. i am trying to find a hard case that will fit my 29.5" (75cm) glidetrack (slider) in and 4000 glidecam in. i use these a lot and like to have theme as an option everywhere i go. I was going to go down the suitcase route but really need something with a strong outer shell. A pelican would be perfect but they are just so expensive, especially here in Australia.

would love to see some pics scott

I have an SLR carrying shoulder sling that I usually keep the camera body and 3 most used lenses in, as well as spare cards, card reader, spare battery and charger. That's the only consistent thing I carry with me- everything else is re-packed for the purpose of my next gig.
For example, if I'm shooting documentary with audio, I have a cheapo eye-clops case (made for the eye-clops projector, sold as a $5 SLR carrying bag alternative) that carries my Magic Lantern headphone adapter cable, Sennheiser wireless lav system, spare batteries, and foldable noise-reduction studio headphones. If I'm setting up lights, I bring a backback with a custom padded-insert I made for carrying bulbs, and light fixtures get bundled and carried with my tripod. Same with my Konova slider.
If I'm bringing stabilization gear, I have a padded suitace (like the DIY style one above) that houses my steadicam jr, cowboy studio shoulder rig, and some handles and fluid head.

That's how it is all stored in my office closet, and I repack things as they are needed. For example, if bringing the audio gear AND lights, the backpack with the bulbs will also have the eye-clops bag stuffed in along with a folded up reflector, etc.

I haven't found any one way to carry everything I would need for every situation, so I'm constantly swapping things around. Guess that response isn't so helpful. ;)

+1 for sure. As mentioned, I love my ThinkTank but also have a LowePro backpack and a Crumpler for when I don't need as much with me (which is often).
