RE: Photo - Curious, why is the guy on the right pointing his gun at the water? Is he afraid of the giant squid?

Actualy I heard on the news yesterday that they[scientists] just found one (a giant squid)! they got pictures and accidentally snagged off one of it's tenticles with a hook too. (way to make a good first impression)..

Glad everything has worked out so well PK. *tips hat* Just keep an eye on your back too, stay safe.

Kristof from NYtimes has great editorials on the sex trade in Asia. P.K. you might want to write about your experience, talk about the work you're doing with helmets, your experience as an American in thai culture, challenges that you perceive in Thailands development, and your interaction with this scumbag. Try sending it to Kristof at the New York times and some other newspapers.

There's nothing worse than embarassing a country to action. Couching it in an international issue would actually make you safer as well because if anything were to happen to you it would be picked up and there would definitely be a follow-up story. It would be a good way to build up a little insurance.

Par-tee! Par-tee! Par-tee!

Let's give this guy a big going away party and tell him to stay out!

LOL PK

I've been reading your blog about once a week and the PUFF the FROG is epic. The one about the mugger and you PUFFING up and then having to calm down............

Awesome!!

Just wanted to give an update:

Last month a few people told me that Ali (the foreigner who was sent to jail because he bought a 12 and 15 year old) was wanting to kill me. Prior to that it was rumors he was going to pay a young girl to tell police I raped her (an eye for an eye). Last month I spoke to Ali, face-to-face, to calm the situation down. It was good and he actually admitted he had something planned, but might change his mind. (thanks?) He then gave me some oranges and chocolates. (I didn't eat them. I'm not that stupid!)

Things had been fairly calm until Saturday, when a woman told me, "Ali has paid someone $2,000 dollars to kill you." Whatever happened to just saying "Hello" to someone? So once again I must go into defensive mode.

As all of you mentioned this isn't worth getting killed over. My police friends have said they will go and talk to this guy and let him know that Mr. Kirk can't be harmed. But that might make things worse. I am fairly certain these are just idle threats to get me out of the building (or town). He is paranoid and can't relax with me here. But I won't give him the satisfaction of running or hurting me. In a few months I will leave to research Isara projects in Africa and South America. Until then I will play it cool and watch my back.

Everyone knows this guy has it out for me (including all of you). And, as we know, NOBODY messes with a DVXuser and gets away with it.

PK, you just say the word and we'll hop on a plane man... we'll bust some heads DVXuser style! Give that lowlife hell man... you've got our love and support!

I kinna wish you'd just pack on up and go. If someone's already got the $2000 they'll either do the job or have to pay it back.

Man that's serious. Stay safe, and please continue to give us daily updates to know you're ok.

I was wondering about this post today. I'm glad you're okay, but you should consider getting out before he either gets out of jail, or he hires the right person to do the deed. Do you have means to protect yourself if someone breaks into your apt?

There's a chance money has exchanged hands. But there's also a chance we'll be hit by a car tomorrow. Nothing is certain. I didn't leave after he was released from prison. I didn't leave when they made their first and second threats. So now they're saying money has exchanged hands. Maybe it has, but I doubt it. I think they would first scare me with actual violence (Beat me up or shoot a bullet into my home). Murder is too risky, especially since everyone in town knows he has it out for me.

Plus, it would be bad for business to get rid of me. The pizza and ice cream industry would crumble if something happened to its golden boy. :)

Thanks for everyone's concern. Just wanted people on "the outside" to know. It never hurts to have friends in the media.

Kai - Not real sure about self defense laws. Thai culture pretty much lets everyone take care of themselves. Police don't get involved very often.

Dakotapod - I've got a Bogen monopod next to my bed. It's set to "kill".

No Ca$h - I guess here the movie would be translated to Tuk Tuk Driver. :)

Not to sound like an alpha-male, but I'm actually not afraid of this guy. But I AM afraid he'll get away with it (like he did before), if something does happen. ....Anything goes here. So that is a big reason for making sure nothing happens. The others being; life is cool and I've got a really cute girlfriend I'd like to continue seeing. :)

i wanna see a pic of this guy. maybe you can take some sort of surveillance photo of him? unless it will get you in more trouble. be safe and be strong. the moment he senses weakness he'll attack (in most cases atleast)

My earlier offer still stands, but he won't after I'm done with him.

There is always that option of a DVXUser flashmob to Thailand... I think about 30 of us could provide quite the security detail! :)
