B&H AF 100 Pre-order shipment delay.

I have pre ordered with another vendor and have not received an email.
I have experienced bad products, misguided customer service with BH in the past.
I have taken my business elsewhere.

I order stuff from B&H all the time, but only when it's in stock. I will not pay in full for something that's a pre-order. They should accept 5%-10% deposits like everyone else and charge the rest when it ships. Until they do that I pre-order from other places.

... now if they can just get their containers on those new Super Ships Walmart just built they can get them here in 5 days!
These ships travel at 31 knots.

These ships were commissioned by Wal-Mart to get all their goods and stuff from China. They hold
an incredible 15,000 cartons and have a 207 foot deck beam!! The full crew is just 13 people on a ship
longer than a US Aircraft Carrier (which has a crew of 5,000).
With its 207' beam it is too big to fit through the Panama or Suez Canals.

The ship was built in five sections. The sections floated together and then welded.
The command bridge is higher than a 10-story building and has 11 cargo crane rigs
that can operate simultaneously unloading the entire ship in less than two hours.

The sad thing is these ships then turn-around and head back to China COMPLETELY EMPTY! :embarasse

She also said "We plan to have all of the cameras out of the factory by the 27th."

Uh huh, yes, and the cameras end up at the stores sometime around January 7, not the early Christmas present that was rumored to be attributed to Jan's comments in Boston or wherever their show was. She clarified, which means they could start shipping the 24th, 25th, and 27th for all we know from what she said there.

AS THE FORUM TURNS

DVXuser:
"Please tell us when (or how big, or how fast or what color)"

Vendor: "Well things arent finalized and..."

DVXuser: "Why won't you tell us? What are you hiding?"

Vendor: "Nothing. It's just that we dont have final..."

DVXuser: "C'mon. This is DVXuser. You can trust us. We know it's just speculation. We just need something to bicker about."

Vendor:
"I just don't want to say something that doesn't turn out to be true. I'd rather wait until it's finalized"

DVXuser: "You're obviously hiding something. Just trying to get buzz going."

Vendor: "Really...this is a bad idea."

DVXuser: "I thought you loved us"

Vendor: "Okay...I think it will be (insert specifics here), but we won't know for sure until it's finalized. Got that?"

DVXuser.
"Absolutely"

TWO WEEKS LATER

DVXuser: "HEY! YOU PROMISED!"

Everyone is assuming they're coming over here by boat. If they were really large items (like TVs) and/or in a super large quantity, then maybe. But I don't think there will be thousands of these cameras coming next month.... maybe a few hundred at best with the first shipment. So they'll probably come over by plane. That means a day to get here. I think B&H just has an automated system that sends out the emails when they enter in their inventory update information, and they're probably just trying to play it safe. It doesn't mean anything. Stop worrying. The cameras will come.... eventually, which is better than never.

Guys and gals, we ship by air. And B & H is just setting up expectations so they are not hammered with phone calls on the 27th. I mean realistically if the cameras to them shipped on the 27th, then give it a day to get to B & H and then clear their receiving dock and then to ship it out, say on the 29th. I think that the time line with the holidays in there is realistic for worst case scenario. Cameras are still shipping according to schedule.

Best,

Jan

Frightening. They're gonna own us (if they don't already).

Although some may not like B&H's "pay up front" policy, you might want to consider the tax ramifications of being able to claim the camera purchase on your 2010 taxes. This is what made me switch from Abel Cine to B&H!

Thinking the exact same thing. I think it's actually a plus to be able to pay upfront for the reason!
