AVCHD high bitrate tests- MUD FREE footage

Dear PappasArts and other Pro's and Enthousiasts, i've now achieve stable 24pn, at 54 / 62 / 96 GOP=2 and Preset Bitrate of 540 (default was 234).

Also I set the "Sensor Mode 4" under Patches for Testers to nr 7, sothat my viewfinder would show 23,97 fps. All working reliably and beautifully, bummer that couldt go higher as all sorts of errors came up; see the sull extensive table and it daily visual updates at: http://www.aster.nu/gh1.php

I did try on your magic setting and it turned out to be rather a false magic. Actually it worked in most cases other than very high detailed scenes like trees having thousands of green leaves.

The problem is that even the results of working scenes, with their betrates reaching up to 70Mbps, were very unstable, having some missing P-frames.

avg/max (I) : 413 914 / 2 564 352
avg/max (P) : 161 975 / 5 497 536 <-- Uneven P-frames like this are the source of the problem, I think.

not to be one of those guys, but this person posted a link to their website on their 5th post and haven't heard back since. those setting just seemed impossible. i'm calling bs and just another attempt to drive traffic to a site.

Stable settings for PAL - AVCHD - FHD

Stable settings for PAL - AVCHD - FHD

I have installed one hack with 32 Mb/s max speed in AVCHD, but am getting buffer overflow ("unable to write data", camera completely blocked, class 10 card) on high dense foliage, no wind, cloudy, 320 ISO.

Looking for really stable settings for my PAL GH1, better than those from Panasonic!

Not sure that this thread http://dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=215624 gives the solution. Neither http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showpost.php?p=2039780&postcount=5
for the PAL case.

Many thanks for help.

Thanks Ipowell. Your settings work well on the scene I used! No more buffer overflow so far, I tested 30 seconds recording. Previously error occurred after 17 sec. Data rate now around 35 Mbit/s as per QT info, previously 26 Mbps.
I tried also MJEG, but am disappointed. Lot of noise when playing movie, with your 35Mbps settings. But I have to admit: it's my first ever use of MJPEG, so I don't know what it looked like before.

USEFUL SETTINGS AND EXPLANATIONS FOR AVCHD:

In Ptool there are 3 suggested settings A, B, and C
I should say that C settings are the famous D settings that you can find on various posts here.
Video buffer doesn't seem to have any effect, so you don't need to check this option.
Avg. bitrate for C settings is 44Mbps.

IMPORTANT:

As for 'Video Bitrate Adjustment Simplified' and 'Video Bitrate Adjustment' , you need to check just one of these. However 'Video Bitrate Adjustment Simplified' is not yet tested..

If you shoot in 720 60p mode, D settings probably won’t work with high detailed scenes and camera will interrupt recoding after few seconds. For 720 MODE use the following settings that will work without problems:

Video bitrate adjustment 38000000
Overall bitrate adjustment 40000000
Limiting bitrate adjustment 42000000

For these settings avg. bitrate in 1080 MODE is 34.4 Mbps and for 720 34.5 Mbps.
There are no problems with recording of any kind either with 1080 or 720.
No MUD with this setting also.
I should say that these are stable settings and I would recommend them for normal users that want to shoot with 1080 and 720.

For 720 MODE do not use shutter speed 50 or slower ( bitrate drops to 2MBps resulting in horrible picture).
USE ONLY 60 AND FASTER.

Here you can find some examples for these settings:

ABOUT FPN and NOISE IN COLOR GRADIENTS:

-Fpn is not a codec problem and probably cannot be resolved...

- Noise in color gradients is still present (because in Low detail scenes such as walls, backdrops, etc, bitrate drops down). So for now this problem is not solved, infect IQ in static low detailed shots with enhanced codec is identical of IQ of original codec.
