I received my indislider mini from the good folks at indisystem. These were all test shots for an upcoming shoot and decided to throw it into a timeline, add some music and see what I can get.

Shot with GH13, kit lens only. C settings. Native 24p.

Just a side note, if anyone is considering ordering anything from indisystem, you won't regret it. They have outstanding service.

wow! i really liked that! nice smooth slider work (opening shot slider movement felt a bit fast)

was it ment to be a complete story? or purely test shots cut together? i wasn't sure if i was ment to understand it more

what colour correction did you do?

gh1 film mode (+ - settings)?

the colours looked subtle but very pleasing to me. i must know!!!! haha

the indoor shots i loved, was that a big LED lamp on the left?

the acting was a bit "hugh marlowe"

not sure what he was ment to be thinking/confused about within the story but i always prefer the "staring into space" style, when your staring down at something but arnt actually looking at anything, just in a trance like glare. it works well for the other things on mind look.

i look forward to seeing more of this project

Very nice, smooth slider moves. A few glitches here and there, but really minor and I think one would have to be looking for them (like I was) to even notice. I felt the speed on the opening shot was good. Slider moves take a lot of practice to pull off right and you've done a great job.

after a good number of watches i agree with tflak the speed of the opening shot is good, i initially thought it to fast but i think it took me by surprise for a second until i got my bearings.

i think my fav shot is @ 33 seconds, the guy on the bed, i think it looks perfect! i hope to achieve that sort of feel and look myself.

Thanks for the great comments!

It was not meant to be any kind of story, just slapped some music to the clips, color corrected them and away I went.

I modified one of the blue looking magic bullet presets with curves to the grading i wanted.

Smooth +1 -2 -2 -1

The light is a 1000watt 6000k from a light kit I got on ebay ( pretty cheap too ) Ephoto is the company.

your welcome and thank you for sharing it with us.

u've got me very interested in experimenting with modified MBL presets a bit more, most of them are so harsh straight away i've tended to stay away, the CC on your vid is subtle but strong! i cant express how much i dig it! (not just the CC, the whole thing!)

ebay light kit... i've been checking them, buying when i charge up my paypal

Yeah the stock presets are not very usefull, but you can do a lot in magic bullet looks as far as customization.

The lights are really good for the price, very good for green screen work.

Good stuff! :)

A newbie question that I have been meaning to ask for awhile but your footage reminded me. When the footage goes left to right (or right to left) there is some "stuttering". I notice this on all kinds of footage (both pro and amateur) and I have been wondering if its the footage itself, or the video codec or my computer or the streaming video on the web, or a combination of all of these?? I have also noticed that footage going forward/backward doesn't seem to show the "stuttering" very much (if at all). So for example on the opening scene i see this effect when I look closely at the line created by the edge of the wall.

I'm not being critical of your footage, in fact the "stuttering" is not much of an issue in your work and I think it looks great. I just barely noticed it and it reminded me that I have been wondering about this for awhile. :)

Thanks. And as for the "stuttering" it was definitely cause the slider was imbalanced at times lol. I was mainly just using the legs on the slider to position / balance it.

NIce piece indeed. Liked the style and the mood. I used to live in Canada when I was growing up and playing the mountains of leaves was always a big joy. Would love to see some slider action to accompany some joyous kids playing in the leaves....

congrats.

creative job !!! keep it up. Oh , by the way would you plz translate this "Smooth +1 -2 -2 -1" to noobie lol. Thx.

If you are in creative movie mode and press the "Film Mode" button on top of the camera, you can choose various film modes. "Smooth" is one of them. Then you can adjust the specific settings further.

So "Smooth +1 -2 -2 -1" =
Smooth Film Mode
Contrast +1
Sharpness -2
Saturation -2
Noise Reduction -1

Hope that helps!

Nice footage, makes me want to get an indislidermini myself. How compact and lightweight is it?

Thanks. It's about 2 inches thick 24inches long. Only weighs a few pounds at that. I ordered the legs which were an extra $15 if i recall.

How is it you dont have any strobing during your horizontal tracks? If i tried to track something that close the the camera it would be strobing like hell.

Wow! That looks fantastic. Now i'm relatively new to magic bullet looks and i haven't been able to achieve what you have with the gh13 and Looks. How did you add curves in the program?

Nice work! I just bought the MiniSlider from Indisystems and initially I wasn't very happy with it all. It just seems so cheaply made (probably shouldn't complain since the cost is pretty cheap). I found it very difficult to get smooth camera moves out of it. Now after watching your footage I am forced to reconsider. Maybe it is a practice thing. It could also be that I am using a DVX100B, whereas I think this thing is really made for DSLRs. Anyone out there using it with a camera the size of the DVX100B?
