Audio Levels

I have shot hundreds of hours using the dvx and hvx but much fewer hours with the xh-a1. I wanted to get some feedback about audio levels. While shooting with the dvx and hvx as a "one man band" I know to keep the audio levels going into the red dots. If you keep it lower than that you're levels are low. What about on the xh-a1? Thanks in advance for your feedback.:dankk2:

You should ride level between to -12 db and -6 db and not to the red line. That's what sound tracks are usually mixed to anyway. Negative 12 is the green dot.

Thanks for the reply. Now, this may be a silly question (please don't take offense, none intended) - have you been the editor of your material or have you handed it off to others? I have not gone into the edit with A1 footage (just been hired to shoot). But, I always want to deliver the best quality. I'm looking to learn as much as possible since this is not the camera I always shoot with. I really appreciate your input/feedback.
