Atomos Shogun in Belt pack?

Anyone thinking of recording 4K on the A7S with the Atomos in a side bag/belt clip?
Sometimes i'll want to shoot as lightweight as possible and discreetly as possible.

Is it possible? How long a cable can you get A7S<>Shogun without compromising quality?

Yes the Shogun is an amazing monitor and would use it most times, but would like the option to have the A7S by itself on a 3-axis stabiliser and have the monitor off it.. hopefully with trigger record. Possible?

If you're planning to do this with HDMI it's a really bad idea. HDMI is such a lousy connection, I really wouldn't want to risk losing the signal in the middle of a shot. And with the recorder in a bag you wouldn't even know until later.

Bad idea. However, hopefully smaller 4k recorders are on their way.
7" screen recorders for this tiny camera?
Just plain dumb on the manufacturer's part.

I know the moment I order the Shogun the Ninja 4k and Ninja Star 4k will be announced. I bet we see one or both at NAB 2015. The Shogun is a little large for my needs too, until a smaller solution is available I'm sticking with the A7s' 1080p.

I have a feeling that the reason these 4K recorders have 7inch screens is because they actually need the size of a device that big for all the electronics and components. It's similar to how the iPhone 6 Plus has more battery life than the iPhone 6... because they have the physical space to put a larger battery. And since the device needs to be physically larger, they may as well throw a larger screen in it for monitoring, added value, etc.

In general, that's correct, but the Sony A7s has a little do-hickey that you can snap on which holds the HDMI cable in place. I tried it and it really works. No way the cable is going to come out. This seems to be a forgotten feature of the camera. BTW, it also holds the microphone and headphone cables as well.
