To determine if a more convenient monopod could rival the stability of a tripod, this project was shot entirely with the Manfrotto 560b fluid monopod.

Except for one clip, the Lumix 14mm f2.5 was the only lens used.

Despite not being my favorite style of video, I do enjoy your work. My only comment is the appearance and sudden disappearance of ambient sound, namely the fountains. I would include all water sounds as a backdrop if that is what you're going for, or leave them out completely.

That being said, how did you feel the monopod experiment turned out? Was that the one with the little feet or just a straight monopod?

Dan i always like watching your films,if you dont mind could i ask what your view on the GH2 hack is,have you done it,i am fairly happy with my standard unhacked GH2 and am also a bit of a coword i dont want to start causing problems or muck up my warrenty.

Stoneinapond,

My hat is off to you for watching video that isn't your favorite style. I'm happy to hear you enjoy the projects though.

I seldom use ambient audio, and question myself the few times I have, so in general am with you on eliminating them.

The 560b does have feet, and with the GH2 and smaller lenses, will stand on its own. I've recently done 3 or 4 projects using only this monopod, and have been pleasantly surprised at the tripod-like stability. At its shortest height, in a light wind, it'll still produce stabile hands-off video. However, because the feet are small it must always be watched.

Thanks for watching.

I'm with you. The GH2 produces great video as is, and I don't want to risk an unreliable shooting or editing experience. I do keep my eye on those who are more adventurous than I though.

Thanks for watching.

Dude.
Can I call you Dude?
Dude.
That was nice as hell.
I live 5 minutes down the street from the Biltmore so I know what it looks like front to back - and you REALLY captured it well. And I might add that your UNHACKED GH2 footage here is some of the best I've seen. That 14mm Lumix lens must be nice.
Granted I started out as an audio engineer - but I think I still am going to have to issue you a citation for that ambient water in and out! Ha!
Cheers mate!

Thank you for the good words DPStewart. I'm happy to hear I've captured your neighbor well. As you know, the Biltmore is a fine subject.

Your citation has been duly noted.

I liked the video - nice composition and music but I don't like how you pop-in to close ups in the middle of the wide shot and then back to the wide. I would start with a few closeup shots and then go to the wide. Details to global shot or reverse - Start with the wide then go to several detail shots. Because the closer shots are so brief, it feels disjointed.

Thanks for watching, and the suggestions.
