Are you going to make it?

Hi all,

I thought I would start a thread to see how everyone is getting on with their scripts? I know a couple of people have pulled out due to lack of time and I have read that a number of people are struggling to get their script down below ten pages. This is just a chance for you all to vent and let us know where you are and how you are making.

I will add that my script is pretty much done. I am going to go over it one last time this weekend and I am waiting for a bit of feedback from friends, but I will be ready for the upload date.

Well, I was finished at a full 10 pages using 11pt Courier New (what I usually use) but I'm afraid people may say it needs to be 12pt so I had to remove some stuff which I'm not too thrilled about but hey, gotta follow the rules.

Most of my writing time has gone into last minute changes on my short that we're about to begin production on so I haven't had a whole lot of time to designate to this. But regardless, I'm still pretty happy with it, though I don't see it being one of the best ones.

10 page limits are tough!

Just done with my third (and I think final) draft - hurray! Whether it's any good is another story...

I had to really work to keep mine under 10 pages. Once I started writing there was just so much that I wanted to do with it, but I held back......for this contest anyway. : P

Unlike normal I got the meat of the script written pretty quickly this time around and have had the luxury of time away from the script and time to polish. I'm ready and excited to upload.

All I gotta do is polish mine up. I'm at 10 pages and I'm happy with how my story turned out. So I'll definitely be uploading the 23rd.

I'm coming in on the opposite end. I've got 5 pages and after several re-reads and some time away from the script I'm exploring ways to add to it without adding unnecessary content for the sake of 6 pages, but so far I'm at a wall.

Right now I feel pretty good about the film being 5 pages, so we'll see how it goes. Maybe a non-compete, maybe a rule change :)?

I think the limit should be 10 page max with no minimum. If someone feels their story is complete in 5 pages, more power to them. I could see how making people trim their story down is acceptable but not force them to add onto it. Just my .02

'Ay Tim...just curious...what are your thoughts on the page minimum??

I'm fairly certain that my my concept will not miraculously fall together within the next 24 hours, so I imagine I'm not going to make it... :(

gotta admit i think a page minimum, especially at six pages, is counter-productive. shorter is usually better when it comes to short films. a ten minute film is often at a disadvantage to a five minute film when it comes to film festival scheduling. shorter running time = more showings, more exposure etc.

with that said, my current draft comes in at 9 1/2 pages! if i can excise that last 1/2 page i'll be happy.
