Aputure Light Storm LS 1s Review

Don't have a LS 1S. Using the StrapMoore on the AC bricks for the Aladdin Bi-Flex 2, & Practilite 602. Just ordered the StrapMoore Extender for other needs.

Ahh, got it. I've been thinking about whether to get the Ikan light stand mounts or the StrapMoore(s) for the LS 1S supplies. The Ikan looks more rugged but also would add 1.75lbs to my checked lighting kit for two of them, which I am already right on the edge of 50lbs so the StrapMoore seems like a lot lighter solution.

U think you're looking at the shipping weight, which includes all the packaging. The Ikan weighs very little.

B&H lists the weight of the units as:
Weight 0.75 lb

and the weight of the packaging as:
Package Weight 0.55 lb

My bad but still 1.5 lbs for two

Thanks Mitch & OSCURO!

Been looking for a solution for strapping my LEDs' AC Bricks to lightstands, & would have been happy with either of these options, but went the StrapMoore to save space, & weight.

The StrapMoore Extender shows promise too.

I ordered one and the extender! This is perfect for my strapping on the tripod leg my external battery for the a7rii. If it works well then I will get a couple more. Love that it's light and will pack easily. Good find!

When you place a V-lock battery onto the Aputure LS-1 s, and then you plug it into a wall socket. Does the V-lock battery charge? As I am interested into buying a V-lock battery. But those V-lock dockings are really expensive. So if I could charge it this way I would not need a v-lock docking.

Any idea's?

Thanks!

For around $200 you can get a V-lock battery and a matching cheap slow-charger for it. Most of these kits will charge the battery via a D-Tap, which means the battery has to have one of these on it that will accept voltage input as well as output. Do a search on the B&H website to see several examples. I think you can get a 90w brick with charger for about that price, but be aware that such a cheap little charger will take many hours to recharge the brick, perhaps up to eight.

How are people transporting their LS1s?

Mine is still in the cardboard box but there has to be a better way, right?

Pelican/Storm 1610.
Two LS 1S
One Arri 150W Fresnel with barndoors, scrim bag
1 Matthews dimmer for Arri
One Coollight LED256 panel with barndoors, mount and mini softbox for hair or rim source
All of the cables, power supplies for all three LEDs panels
Half a dozen grip clamps
Bag of thumbtacks
Bag of C-47s
42" Flexfill

Fly with it all of the time, great case, manageable size and weight, built in handle and casters. Can't figure out why people would carry a light as nice as the LS 1S in a nylon laptop bag? One drop on concrete and your new LS 1S is probably toast. I wrap both of mine in multiple layers of Duvetine. Not only does it protect the lights in transit, it can block windows, use it for negative fill, use it to deaden sound reflections on wooden floors and a lot of other uses. This case, along with a semi soft roller bag, is my travel lighting and grip kit. Light stands, Chimera and tripod ride in the other bag with a few stingers and another flexfill, and audio gear. Two case/bags, each under 50 lbs for no flight overweight charges and I am bringing a four light kit studio within those two cases.
