Aputure 300d

The consensus of an extensive discussion on a BMC forum is that the output is roughly 1/3rd that of a Joker 800. But the 300d is 1/7th the cost, lighter weight, less power draw, less heat, and more compact for travel.
So it would be more accurate to compare a set of 3 COB300s with one Joker 800 ;)
Don`get me wrong, I have my eyes on the 300d, but the price value ratio gets smaller if you factor in the "output per fixture" numbers.

Just picked one of these up with no prior 120D experience.

Is the power supply fan supposed to be this loud? Sounds like a loud computer fan!
It's almost as bad as the Godox 200W COB light.

The fan on the head is fine, but I do a lot of interviews and there's a reason I've been using passively cooled LEDs.

My excitement has waned precipitously :(

// If only the Nanguang stuff would come with Bowens adapter... silent and the fresnel punches even more at 200W. Not sure if softbox would be as bright though.

On the Aputure User Group on fb, the team at Aputure have acknowledged a green spike when using it "bare bulb" and instructed it's not to be used w/out a lighting modifier. When using a modifier, there is no green cast.

If anyone locally in Vancouver BC wants a brand new one please contact me. I already paid the import duties so you're saving on that. $1,420 Canadian.

Huh, that seems rather odd. Does the modifier on it have some sort of correction on it?

I've used the COB300 in these days outdoor & indoor shooting and I must say that i like what I see,no green cast at all and a great soft light. Loved what I saw on my smallhd.
Such a great light for modest price! here you can see a picture from set from my iphone!View attachment 127291

Did the 300 carry the key here or was it just wrapping the light from the window? Do you remember your exposure settings from this shot?

I tried the 120, contemplating buying it, but with the dome on, the light output was just too weak :(

Supposedly, they will be giving an official explanation soon. From the little that they have said on their facebook group posts, it seems that the magenta tinted lens that covers the COB creates green fringe at the edges when used totally bare. Modifiers apparently fold that light back in and the resulting mixed light has no fringe. I'm paraphrasing so take that with a grain of salt.

wrapping the light from the window? I would say it's correct. I was only at 30% power only on the 300D. you can see in the picture the other info you asked, anyway, IMHO this light is definitely worth it. Still have to test further but so far it's a keep ;-) and I'm glad I bought two of them!

Here you can see other pictures where I used it outside sometimes alone other times together with the Astra! another note about powering the COB300 with batteries, I had the 150WH on that too and it works with no problem!IMG_89541.jpgIMG_8944.jpg

Why is it so expensive in Europe ? 1300€ compared to the USD price of 1100$ seems not fair.
I paid 1386eur for :
300d , Light Dome mini and Fresnel Mount . This is good deal , I think .
At now I am wonder how ballast is gonna be loudly ?

One more thing I have to get , light stand , any suggestion ?

Hmmmm ... methinks the Rayzr 7 is starting to look like a more finished product for the same money.

It seems very nice but it cost 2K

Hi Tom, where did you get them ? I ended up ordering on Aliexpress and asked to write a lower price on the box to somehow lower import duties from China.

I paid €1.270,00 for the COB300, fresnel mount, light Dome and space light! it's a good deal in my opinion and worth it.
