Aputure 300d

Hi
I am going to order one . Could you advised me which mount I should choose , v-lock or Anton Bauer ? I checked online and Anton Bauer seems to be cheaper . V-lock it seems works with most sony camera ? Do I am right ? Is anyone could explain me what is the differences between these to mount and which one better to go . Thanks
By the way I contacted with Aputure and this is what they say:

Tom,

It sorta depends on your needs and what you typically use. Both of the battery types are abundant and commonplace, as far as I know. If your camera has a mount for either one, I'd say go with that type. However, if you don't have anything that uses them, I'd just stick to whichever presents the best bang for your buck. I like Core SWX because I feel they are a solid company. There are many other third party vendors which may have decent quality, but may not be "name brand". Sorry I can't help much on the technical differences. Either way, I hope you enjoy your new light! I'm going to get one, just not until next year probably. :)

I've used the 300D today for the first time, I ran two 177 Wh batteries for the whole interview, about 40 min at almost full power and the batteries still had "juice" for at least other 30 min I think!
It's a nice useful led, not that powerful in my opinion but I can see my self using it here and there.
It was only to lower the high contrast on the face outside and take away the hard shadow, see picture!COB300D.jpg

What brand and model battery did you use? Asking because these Aputure lights are very picky about the power draw in Amps.

The A/B mount is stronger, & very popular in the USA, but V-mount dominates the rest of the world, so I would base the choice on your location, especially if you ever need to rent, borrow, lend, or sell, your batteries, or chargers.

If need be there are adapter plates that allow one type to be used on the other’s mount.

I bought two of these cheap MAXOAK 12000 mAh V Monte V-Mount that i found on Amazon, and they are great,I will definitely get others from them. I have a "ton" of other V-mount batteries that I paid twice the price with lower power! but i have to say that it's better to wait at least 6 month or more to see how they perform then! even though I see a lot of good reviews around the net from Amazon from all over the world!

Great info , so 300d works even with less then 190wh , any way I will go with 230wh for the best results like Aputure recommended .

ozmorphasis I see on the picture that you used Aputure Light Dome Mini Soft Box , could you write a few words about that soft box . I have to choose Light Dome Mini Soft Box or Light Dome Soft Box .
Dome Mini Soft Box is much smaller what I like it , question is , it is not too small for 300d ?

ozmorphasis what is the total weight 300d with 2 battery and stand ( about ) ?

Tom1, you need to ask @videoshot. I am not the poster for the sample shots. But, I'd also be interested in the answers! ; )

AFAIK, yes it will work with less than 230wh. The only critical piece you need to worry about is the draw of 12a. As long as your batteries meet or surpass that level, then you should be fine. The watt hours are just measuring the capacity. So more capacity (higher wh), would most likely = more time to shine!

This gizmo comes in handy for powering LED lights, allowing you to mount 2 batteries to the single v-mount of the light and get twice the life before having to replace a battery:

also makes it possible to double-up your camera battery and "hot-swap" while recording or doing a live shot...

fyi- I purchased a Core SWX 150w and when I took it out of the packaging the LCD display was already malfunctioning. That doesn't bode well for the durability of the LCD displays on batteries. The LCD displays on AB batteries would commonly crap-out over time. Core touts that the battery has a "rugged" housing but when I had one fall out of my SUV and onto the pavement the housing cracked slightly. Core describes the housing as being "rubberized" but it isn't as soft a rubber as on the Intellytech batts that tout a "rubberized" housing.

As far a economically priced batteries with 12A draw and a high Wh, at $539.00 these are much lower in price than the Blueshapes and, for those of you who dislike when a battery is taller than the camera body and sticks up beyond the top plane of the camera, they are not as tall as the Blueshapes. More fat and short like the Sony Olivines than thin and tall:

I can't vouch for the quality of the IndiPRO's. But the pricing is attractive.

Heard two reports of ls 300d having a green cast. Anyone care to share their experience? I have 2 aputure lightstorm 1s and i have a green cast with one of them which made me have to gel it with a 1/8 magenta.

I just did a quick and dirty test outside today. It's really quick so sorry for the low production value.

I have a shoot tomorrow and i'm bringing it for fill. When I did the test I didn't use the fresnel. Forgot to bring it. I'll have it for tomorrow's shoot. I'm basically doing a commercial shoot with talent outside. It's not a big one just talent delivering a few lines outside but I think the C300D will work well based on my test run today.

A review of the 300d states " the CRI / TLCI ratings of this light are really high (≥96) which translates to even and accurate color rendition, no magenta/green shifts can be found here. ".

But it would be comforting to hear directly from owners.

The consensus of an extensive discussion on a BMC forum is that the output is roughly 1/3rd that of a Joker 800. But the 300d is 1/7th the cost, lighter weight, less power draw, less heat, and more compact for travel.

Thanks for doing a quick test Erik! :)

1318€ in Europe... why is it that high ? That's more than 1560$ when regular price is 1100$ !

I will not buy at this price.

That would mean they haven't improved LED lighting since back to the FloLights... I like the ideas of these, but they would but much more useful if they had dial in color. At this price point (in the EU atleast) you get too little.... :(

Heh, one of mine needs a 1/8 +green, the other is perfect.

No Grade C300 C Log.jpg

I used the 300D for a fill outside yesterday. Here is a frame grab. Set WB at 5600. No grade. C300 C-log. I didn't have a green spike issue.
