Apple wants to sell hardware. They dont care about software. they only make it so that they can sell more hardware.

if they invent a toaster that plays music, and it out sells the iphone... Iphone upgrades will stop, and iToast will be the focus of the company....

Dividens? huh? Is that a good way to make money?

Dividends are basically when a company declares earnings per share, they normally also declare dividends per share. Say $0.15 or so... so if you have 100,000 shares they pay you $15,000 (if the dividend is $0.15) for owning their stock. The thing is it's taxable, just like buying/selling stock. Not all companies do this, especially if they're low on, or have no, earnings per share; or if they choose not to. For example, Apple doesn't declare dividends.

Apple, Adobe, and Avid all don't payout dividends. Microsoft does.

Yeah....

iToaster is just like Toaster7 but Apple makes people think they won't get burned with the iToaster.

Also some people think the toast has prettier toast marks than regular toast coming out of Toaster7 but it's all good once you slap some butter on it.....

Here's why FCS is essential to Apple. They are battling Adobe over Flash which threatens Apple's Internet plans, and could make Adobe the controller of the mixed media web. Apple does not even include Flash support in the iPhone/iPad. Apple's baby is H.264, which is not an open standard. They will do almost anything to make H.264 an Internet standard. To to that they need pro content produced in H.264, and FCS is their pipeline for that.

I find it funny that you mention that, since Quicktime encoder is one of the worst h.264 encoders. In fact Adobe Media Encoder has much better, and more streamlined ways to create h.264 files than FCS does.

Flash Video 10 also uses h.264 for the highest efficiency codec. It can be wrapped in a flash program for streaming, or you can do HTML5 wizardy to stream it and be Safari/Chrome friendly.

Only Telestream Episode Pro bests them, and its 3rd party, runs on Mac+PC.

It was sarcasm, sorry. Growth stocks don't pay dividens, EPS (earnings per share) are different than dividens.

Thanks!

For so much that has been said, there hasn't been much illumination at all.

That's not really surprising. Surviving employees are under NDA and the laid off workers probably had to sign some kind of release/nonblab agreement before they were given whatever severance Apple offered. Seems that all the info we have thus far is coming from third parties who spoke to Apple employees (or ex-employees). We'll probably not get the full story for some time.

This may take this thread into a new direction, who is this guy, I just had it sent to me... (is it an old pic ? first i've seen it)
Is it "Eddie the Eagle"? love to hear the conclusion. or is it one of the Apple 40 trying his hand at Camerawork?

Downunder here we have swooping Magpies (black n white aggressive birds in nesting season), But that looks like an "Alfred Hitchcock" shot. scarry stuff, hope he charged Danger Money.
