Apple iSlate / iPad

I prefer this version of the ipad. I guess time will tell if my version is a bigger hit than apple's!

LED 9.7" screen...

How long until we can get an HDMI/HD-SDI/Component -> iPod connector cable so we can use it as an on-board camera monitor?

Yes, I know it's not a production monitor...

This is what I'm wondering. I'm considering getting a Canon 7D(primarily for video but also some stills) and was not looking forward to paying for a production monitor - this is less and good enough for framing.

I was going to ask if anyone on this board had heard of an iphone/ipod touch mod or app to use as a monitor, since that would likely work just as well with this.

Engadget has an article stating the iPad will have a (separate) camera accessory kit with USB, and I was wondering if it'd be possible to connect this to a 7D via USB and monitor the video as it records. I wouldn't necessarily want to save it to the hard drive of the ipad(though in a pinch that might be useful)

Well, for once, this won't be an item I jump on the bleeding edge for.

Lots of MIA tidbits...

It always is! I hope there will be a way to use this as a HD monitor AND record direct to its hard drive....THAT would be great.

....plus, you can play games as you wait for the next shot to be set-up!

Look for the "iOS" on these.

Yeah, as I stated much earlier... would be nice, but as far as Apple is concerned everything is an OUT of their product... not in.

iPad? Seriously? I know they're continuing on with the iPod style name, but ... iPad? Seems like a bad SNL sketch.

After watching the promo video, though, I must say that apple has a great marketing team.

Does anyone else prefer OLED screens to LED? My friend has a new Zune and the interface looks much cooler than my iPhone (although I would rather have an iPhone).

edit: the iPad doesn't have an OLED screen. I just kind of wish it did.

I wonder if there's a way to run BootCamp on it? I imagine there will be a jailbreak for it next week!
I just got the new 3.2 SDK, so now we're off developing iPad apps.

I was hoping it would be a USB-powered Lite-Brite or Etch-a-Sketch that plays Hangman. That would be awesome. I'll have to stick with the iMac for a while, I guess.

Devices like this that are created for the express purpose of pushing DRM-laden crap will be the downfall of both computing and technology in general. You can only install Apple-signed apps?? Insane.

You guys are forgetting something like this isn't made for us. We're all audio/visual professionals who need horsepower and flexibility. Your average person just needs to e-mail, word process, surf the web and do social networking, which this thing will be a dream for, in a form factor that's light and extremely portable.

...like the thousands of Netbooks out there already?

Apple... what's old is new again!

No doubt they are going after the same market, but most netbooks look and feel cheap. This doesn't, and people will pay for that. The cheap ipad isn't that much more expensive than a good netbook.
