I'll let you know when they ship next week or the week after!
And since the new MBA/P outperform the new 16" MBP, let's say it will be a lot better.
[I have a fully-loaded 2015 15" MBP that I thought about selling but it's just not worth it. Having another computer around is the better long-term investment.]
I don't know any pro editor who would touch a 13" MBP. The screen is simply too small for editing really.
sure it is to small but you can easily fix that. Attach a big screen in the office or use an 12" iPad via sidecar on location. Works great. I ordered the 13" maxed out MBP for the playback of Canon's 10bit 422 H265. I don't want to wait until May until the 16" comes out. But 1st of all I think it's time to hurry to sell the 15" MBP. I still have the option to sell the 13" later and go for a 16". In the office I still have an 2019 iMac but I can imagine to go for a 16"MBP + 27" screen later.

But what if most of us already have an external GPU or extra processor, could we plug in our iPhones or Ipads as the chips are related and can execute on the code.
Also, back in the day Apple producer a server, it was quite good but based on Intel tech. Now Apple has the golden product a fast low power chip ideally suited to server apps. I am sure Amazon etc who build their server farms near rivers to cool their server rooms will be looking on with great interest.
What will the big MacBook pro have, is there an M2 chip?
questions questions
Just a note, AMD is making fast work in the server market, the core per dollar and extremely high core counts per processor are really attractive when you consider that most machines running as a hypervisor give better performance under AMD (per dollar). XCP-NG worked quickly to support the newer AMD stuff, this is the open source project of the Xen hypervisor. High on my list as I need to virtualize my windows servers, and I can (probably) get more performance for my dollar, or get a third server for the few dollars that I have which gives me good high availability fail over. AMD is really going to put a hurt on Intel unless Intel drops prices even farther.
On a related note...
After 6 years last month, I am finally retiring my Early 2014 MacBook Air after 2700 battery cycles.
I could probably still get another 6 months out of the battery, although it would be barely usable as each day would go on (it just recently switched to "Replace Soon" and sometimes says "Replace Now" under a heavy load).
What a machine it has been.
4 countries, 22 states or so, endless planes, hotels, cabs, lobbies, productions...my favorite and most used computer by far.
I purchased it around the same time I purchased an URSA and edited so many 4K ProRes projects on it in FCP X ("Better Performance") with blazing speed.
"On that thing?" I would hear from random curious specimens over the years.
Yes, indeed...with a benchmark around 600 compared to the 2020's 1700. lol
This isn't goodbye, friend...it's a 'see you later'.

... If Amazon moves to ARM it will most likely be from a server vendor rather than from Apple, and that's if Apple even wants to get into that market....
You made me curious about my mid-2012 (1st gen)RMBP that is now probably eight years and two months and has been my primary(and only computer since then).
Full charge capacity: 7089 mAh
Remaining capacity: 6939 mAh
Cycle count: 143
Condition: Normal
haha...that is pretty much brand new.
My 2015 MBP has 580 cycles.
The MBA was really glued to my hip, which is why such an upcoming powerful and light/thin MBA has me lit up.
Amazon has moved onto the ARM infrastructure several years ago with the Graviton series chips, now in their second iteration. They're a major player already and will likely seek alliances with Microsoft on the consumer front or Linux (Red Hat, Ubuntu, their own Linux2) on the server end.
Like I said earlier, this is turning into a real free-for-all.
For me and for the pro editors I work with, 13" screen is just not enough real estate to see what you are doing...great size for editing on a plane but I haven't edited on a plane in years, although I used to quite often. The 26 hours flight to Cape Town gave me enough time to edit an entire show ;-) and then review dailies of what I shot in South Africa on the way back. To me, the whole editing on a laptop in your office seems counterintuitive, even with external monitors, I like the iMac too much.
