anyone using the nikon z6 in video mode for paid gigs?

Of course it would not - like I said - no different from my D90 and 5d2 (long given away)

Nice blue led hell at 1.40

This is no evidence of the camera not being good. Its hurried DPs who have had no time to explore how to light/expose raw.. maybe.

It looks about 500-600px res - even when the product shots dont.

That blue hell can easily happen on any camera, I can show such things on Alexa even. So definitely says nothing about the camera's worth.

That is interesting because I though the secret, special 'arri rolloff' was basically a LUT that said 'no colour channel can clip without the others clipping too' I would think those areas would go white.

Thats basically what I do in post.

I'll try to find a sample with Alexa blue channel clipping.

Click on CC right under the video and you get the German subtitles, then click on "auto-translate" (where you can select HD, etc) and scroll down to English". Or Tagalog. Or Esperanto.

Thankyou. I had no idea. I was looking for something like that but Youtube is a rare destination for me!

Twenty years ago, a friend and I tried a BabelFish translation from the German and it made no sense whatsoever. Now, Google Translate does a pretty decent German-to-English but is still weak in other languages.

In any case, the same channel has another Z6 ProRes Raw video.

It's odd that those clips were removed while no new one has been uploaded by either Nikon or its Beta-testers.

For actual footage, one may want to go to about a 3-min mark.

footage of young lady (3:29) cu is quite lovely.

but shot bespeaks how difficult it is to nail focus with a full frame sensor using an f1.2 lens

thanks for the link.

It's an 85mm lens so that's the expected result.

Even with the best AF technology (now or in the future), you will always be limited to shoot that wide open with a longer lens on a FF sensor besides in very specific situations like a macro CU or directing attention to a certain object/matter.

The plane is too short for real life moving objects. Even if the AF tracking is perfect, it's like what's the point of it? You just want one eye in focus or a nose or part of a cheek, etc.

The use is very specific and has its purpose, but mostly used with both the camera and the subject static. [Or for stills photography when you're only dealing with 1 frame.]

There is no such thing as an AF Nikon 85 1.2. In fact I don't think Nikon have ever made an 85 1.2 of any sort but I could be wrong so it would have to be an adapted Canon in that case.

There's an AF 85mm 1.4 but it does look as if he's racking it manually in that Coke can vs. cup sequence in 2:54 - 2:59.

Yep AFAIK 85/1.4 is the biggest - got it when I was a kid - soon realised that it was for show, not for pro, as it wont go in a pocket and is unusably thin wide open, now have two 85/2s.
