Anyone use Nikon lenses on the T2i, 7D or 550D?

Just curious. I was looking at an adapter to use Nikon lenses and wondered if that would be a good choice with my T2i?

yes , people do use Nikon lenses on the 550, 7d or t2i. Im wondering if I can get a decent image if I use fd lenses with an adapter on my t2i. There's an extra glass element in between. wondering if it degrades too much. sorry, im not trying to hijack your thread.

I prefer alot of the older Nikon glass on mine. You can get some really old Nikon 50mm 1.8 lenses that just look great IMHO.

Nikon is all I use on my 7D. There is a lot of really good vintage glass still available for those willing to look.

I have a Nikon 50mm 1.4 for my T2i and its the one I use the most! Get a quality adapter ring though, Fotodiox is a good start. I use this one and its been fine for me: http://www.amazon.com/Fotodiox-Nikon-Nikkor-Camera-Adapter/dp/B001G4QXLE/ref=pd_cp_p_1

However, if you're really serious about video production and you plan on investing into some good Nikon glass, I'd seriously consider the $80 one as it will stand up to repeated lens changing over time and will be 100% compatible with every Nikon lens you put on it. http://www.amazon.com/Fotodiox-Pro-Adapter-Nikon-Lens/dp/B002JWYAXA/ref=pd_cp_p_1

I have several vintage manual focus Nikon lenses that I use on the T2i. I use this adapter.

The problem with adapting Canon FD lenses to the T2i, or 7d for that matter, is that the adapter must have a glass element. I would not assume that the glass in a $40 adapter is going to be super high quality. There are probably more expensive FD to EOS adapters out there, but since I don't have any FD glass, it's just better for me to buy glass that is easily adaptable to EOS.

You can read more about adapting vintage lenses to EOS cameras here.

How much light can I expect to lose with an adapter? What would an F1.8 become?

Will I save a decent amount of money on good fast glass (especially wide glass) as opposed to just getting lenses like the Sigma 20mm F1.8, Sigma 30mm F1.4, etc? Will quality be better?

The adaptors for Nikon F mount to Canon EOS mount do not change the light transmited to the sensor. They are mechanical mounts.

I'm using a 50mm 1.4 on my 7D. I love the quality, BUT THERE IS NO IMAGE STABILIZER :=(

It looks terrible when I make some movements with the cam :=(

How do you stabilize your movements decent with a lense like a nikon on a 7d?

Tripod, slider, glidecam, shoulder rig, etc... take your pick

What are the three rear lenses, Matt? How do you like the 135mm f/2.0? I just bought a 135mm f/2.8 and absolutely love it.

You can get an adapter from Adorama for about $25 - but there's a lot of play & wobble in it - you'll see it when you first turn your focus gears, a little bump. the Fotodiox (I believe) makes a "no play" adapter that's about $75 - that's the one to get. There's a really pricey adapter that lets the lens electronics communicate with the body, but for shooting video manually, you really don't need that.

They take some getting used to (hmm, Nikon rotates this way, EOS rotates THAT way) and the release lever on the things is TINY. If you can afford it, get one for each lens you use the most.

They're very handy, considering (A) there's a lot of used AI & AIS (and AF) glass that's fantastic & affordable out there, and (B) if you're a Nikon shooter waiting for Nikon to get their video act together, you can grab a T2i or 7d and get shooting.

Hi Guys,

I have another Problem using the Nikon 50mm on my 7D. I can see allways a purple border everywhere. How to solve this on shooting? What I'm doing wrong?
