C500: Anyone see this yet? Canon c500 mark II

I thought I had started this rumor right here like three days ago. What took them so long.

Possibly but I think 500 MKII is likely to slot below C700, which isn't selling well anyway, at ~ $25,000 ready-to-shoot.

Then, they'll be ready to come out with C700 MKII, which won't need Codex to record uncompressed Raw and should aim at the CFX media. (C500 MKII should still accept CFast 2.0, with the CFX being essentially updated QXD cards). Then 500 MKII will go down to $20,000 and C700 MKII will be at $35,000 and shooting 6K-8K Raw.

Yawn....

This one should have been the C700 and the C700 should have been 8K. Don't you agree?

Nope, the C700 was aimed to compete with one camera and one camera only, the Alexa.

Similar body style, almost identical side screen/button layout.

Higher resolution to try and set it above, but undercutting the price by almost half.

The Canon rep I talked to said Canon knows they aren't the "A-Cam" company, "yet", but this was their first true attempt at try to compete with Arri.

Eventually, Canon Will release an 8K sensor in the C700. They realised the dvxuser group is not yet ready to shoot in 8K. So they are delaying it.
