Anyone having a problem with Firestore maximum file size?

I just read this,

"Because the drive is formatted in a particular way that is inexpensive to support and works cross platform, you're unfortunately stuck with a 2GB maximum file size limitation - and this is a real problem when recording 1 GB/min HD! So every two minutes or so, it starts a new clip. Now, footage is recorded seamlessly, but back in the edit bay, it shows up as a ton of 2 minute clips." over at hdforindies.com.

Is anyone else having this problem?

It's true, but only slightly worse than what happens with P2 media -- that is formatted using FAT32, which limits the size of individual files to 4GB. So with the Firestore, you get twice as many files as you get with P2.

If you have an NLE that "gets" P2, this doesn't matter because a video that consists of multiple 4GB files is shown as a single clip.

Is this the case with final cut ? it recognizes the files and imports one clip (that is the length it was recorded ?
