Anyone get an iPAd yet?

Just about the only service I can think of that gets more expensive and less technically reliable, the further it's 'improved.'

The height of comedy on that one, had to be when AT&T's network failed on Jobs as he was introducing the iPhone 4. That's just horrific, and heads just *have* to roll after that one...

Ya know, for as many complaints I hear about AT&T, I have been happy with them, and I've been a customer for about ten years...

Also Barry, are you sure it was an AT&T issue there? I think he was using the WI-FI they had set up.

Yep, exactly like that. Except that Steve Jobs was hosed by a factor outside his control; AT&T's network hosed him and prevented him from being able to finish the presentation. I think the high point was when he asked the audience "Any suggestions?" and someone shouted out "Verizon!"

Er...

Um...

Yeah, I think I may actually have no idea what I'm talking about here, it may have been a wifi thing. When I first heard it I thought they'd said it was an AT&T issue, but I could very well be wrong!

Well, if it was AT&T's fault, heads should roll. If it was a wi-fi thing then maybe it's Apple's own issue to deal with.

Yeah, I thought it was a Wi-Fi issue because he asked everyone to put their laptops down. It wouldn't make much sense for them to use 3G at a demonstration, as it isn't nearly as fast as Wi-Fi either.

If it was a 3G network thing I agree, heads should roll.

I have never hated a network so fervently as I have hated Verizon. Quite staggering is my antipathy toward them, particularly given that I have never, not once, ever found 3G service anywhere. It was a mistake to pick them up, one which will be rectified when the contract is up.

AT&T has never failed me, not since I joined Cingular in 2001, and their prices are considerably better than Verizon's. Verizon's customer service is like visiting the ape house at a zoo. I don't get why everyone loves Verizon so much and hates AT&T so much. I tend to wonder if it's some kind of word-of-mouth thing, and not actually an experiential thing. But I can tell you, carrying both right now, I hate one and have no complaints about the other, not least because I'm looking at a 3G indicator on only one of them.

I will allow as that I have gotten stuff like free new replacement phones, from AT&T.

But you would not believe the degree of going-over-heads and dealing with supervisors and eventual barking at executive types it took, to get there.

I could be wrong but I think it's marketing. Verizon has just been better at appearing like numero uno in their TV ads. "If they are number one, than they must be better" is probably going on in the minds of many subscribers.

My entire family has Verizon. They have been trying to get me to dump Sprint for years and I've never gotten a good reason as to why. I'd hear "because they are better." How can you know that they are quantifiably better when you've never had Sprint to compare it to? "Because they are" is the answer I usually got. Or I'd get, "then our cell to cell calls will be free." That never sold me either. I never used up my minutes and now with Sprint a call to ANY mobile phone does not utilize minutes.

All I know is that I've been very happy with Sprint including their 3G service. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that they aren't number 1. I don't have the iPhone users and a saturated number of Verizon customers using the same broadband service I am. So, its been very reliable and fast. A case where number 3 isn't so bad.

I've never had cause to deal with AT&T customer service. They've never screwed up a bill, or failed to remove services and keep charging me for them, etc., etc., whereas it's a constant battle with Verizon. It's been a few months since there's been that kind of problem, but the first year of the contract was intolerable.

Yep, same here.

I'm going in next week to discuss upgrading my 3G to the new iPhone 4, and letting my wife have my 3G. We'll see if they handle that complication well :)

We're doing the same thing, but waiting a little longer for supply.

Let us know how it goes.

On a side note, we've never had an issue with charges, etc. with ATT. Our service has been great, and the customer service has been the same.

Not true for everyone, particularly in some cities, but for us here is has been uneventful.

We moved from Verizon because of poor coverage.

I went round and round after we moved and that issue arose. We wanted to terminate our contract, and despite Verizon admitting repeatedly that they couldn't provide good coverage, they wanted to keep the phone number we had had for eight years.

Absolutely difficult to deal with Verizon Customer Service.

I finally said, give us service or terminate contract and we keep number, or tell a judge why you won't.

It worked.

My development partner works for Apple, no heads are rolling from Jobs or anyone at Apple, it was the buildings wifi however Ari is pissed his name is not in the press with his brothers and a few other moguls from the AT&T leak.

Something that has been bothering me about Apple is that they seem to have misrepresented the iPhone screen rez and claims to how fast the new Safari 5 is, they claimed it is the fastest browser ever (it is way faster than Safari 4) but they said faster than Chrome and now it looks like they are being called liars all over the net.

Right when I think they are really getting their act together they pull this crap.

What's really bad is they don't have to.

I'd chalk it up to regional differences in coverage. In Los Angeles, for a long time Verizon was the only provider that could give you a strong signal. I had T-Mobile there once and it was AWFUL.

Oh, I'd do that, too, except that I've never found 3G anywhere I've gone. Not here. Not anywhere in FL. Not Denver. Not Salt Lake City. Not anywhere between NC and OH. Nowhere. Even tried searching for it manually all those places. None. So, those commercials touting their near-universal 3G coverage? They annoy me greatly.

And customer service isn't regional.
