any way to lock a monitor on the cold shoe?

I had a small monitor fall off the cold shoe of my A7siii yesterday and I realize that this has threatened to happen many many times in the past no matter what kind of device I use to attach the monitor as long as its attached via the shoe. Every device simply loosens up and then the monitor or whatever comes flying off. The best i've ever come up with is wrapping some gaffers tape around the shoe and that doesn't work well at all. Has anyone come up with a locking device or a trick that works?

This board is more for answering questions like, 'How did Deakins pull off the illusion that 1918 was one shot?' or 'What's the psychological meaning of periwinkle blue for Storaro?' No one here knows how to keep anything on a cold shoe! Any easier questions?

Jon ^ this looks elegant... until I realize you also must have to have a cage of some type to mount the Tilta adjustable bracket to... correct?

Thanks, Mark. It took a long time to put together. I had to wait forever for the handle and quick release plate but it was worth it. With the 50mm GM attached, it weighs a ton! hehe But yes, you need a cage. I’d never mount a recorder directly on the cold shoe of the camera itself. (see above)

The only thing I know of that locks a cold shoe is this unit from SmallRig but it does require mounting on to something like a cage/half cage or grip. As jonpais stated I'd never mount anything with any weight whatsoever on a camera shoe. Very easy to damage the camera if it has a fall. Not a mirrorless but years back I saw a Nikon that had gone down with a big pro flashgun and the impact actually split the metal of the prism. You could see inside!
