GH4 any way to display battery time in minutes or % on GH4???

Is there any way to display the remaining battery time in minutes or % on the GH4?

I'm still looking through the manual but haven't found anything yet, except for the usual battery icon on the screen. Otherwise, does anyone know what the battery time is? And does it depend on what shooting mode you are in?

That would be a good thing to request in a future firmware update.

The GH4 battery is listed as 1860 mAh which translates into 6696 Coulombs or seconds. 6696 / 60 = 111 minutes or 1 hr 51 min.
So perhaps the three bars of the GH4 battery icon on screen would each correspond to 1/3 of 111 or 37 minutes each.

So full battery icon = 111 min
2/3 full = 74 min left
1/3 full = 37 min

And double all those numbers ( 222 min / 148 min / 74 min ) with the GH4 battery adapter with second battery.

Does that sound right?

While I'd would love to have a time remaining icon my feeling is the batteries last much longer than your estimate.

Don't know much about energy efficiency but seems an area where Panasonic excels. And BlackMagic fails.

I tested a single battery shooting Cinema 4K to SD card on my GH4 and managed over 2 hrs 30 min non-stop recording. I was using an all-manual lens, though. An electronic lens would possibly shorten the battery life a bit.

Bern, I'm sure your right. It would seem so. I just got my GH4 yesterday so I have yet to do some extensive shooting. Jaime, good to know that you got so much time out of a single battery. I had gone ahead and ordered the battery adapter to double my shooting time, but perhaps that was overkill after all.

Thank you all for the feedback.

Yeah, these GH4 batteries have a great run time. I can typically get through a full day of production on less than 2 batteries. I have 3 at the moment and don't see the need to get more unless I'm going to be doing multi-day shooting without the opportunity to charge batteries.

Nope, unfortunately Panasonic doesn't encode such information in their batteries, unlike Sony. One of the little things I miss in my GH3.

Battery life is great though! When you use other mirrorless cameras you realise how crappy battery life is for most of them.
