Any one know about the SteadDSLR?

I went to the site recently.
The price went up $100. It now doubles as a shoulder mount.
The gimbal can supposedly support 16 lbs. The cheese plate on it allows for different size lenses. I'm going by what the site says.

Seems interesting, and now out of my budget for a while.
Any word on the Hague Mini or U3X Longbow?

Does anyone have experience with a good indy built stabilizer?

Hello, I actually build the Stead-DSLR and can answer your questions. Shipping in the US is only $12.15 and takes 2-3 days via USPS Priority, I also ship internationally. It works well with zoom lenses because it can be quickly balanced with the slidable weight arm. Yes it is true that gimbal can now support up to 16lbs and the rig now doubles as a shoulder mount. Yes it works great and I will continue to post more videos on www.SteadDSLR.com. Hope this helps guys and feel free to email me with any questions, SteadDSLR@gmail.com. Thanks.

What if I want to shoot a scene w/ my lens pointing in a given direction (down or up) - how is that achieved (is it doable)?

Thx

Paul

It looks cool, but im not very fond of the large space from where the camera mount and the two bolts that hold it up. just curios if a slightly heavier cam would create a "divingboard effect". curious why there isn't a support under the camera too.

Hey Paul, yes you can balance the Stead-DSLR to point up or down if you want.

Hey MaranFilms, I've never had a problem with any kind of bend in the cheese plate where the camera mounts. It's constructed of metal and is pretty heavy duty. There is no additional support under the plate to allow the gimbal (underneath) to slide back and forth on a track, for more balancing options. Feel free to shoot me an email with any questions guys, SteadDSLR@gmail.com. Thanks!

this design is the old DIY steadycam design way back on the HV20 forum, originally from a guy in asia. You have modified it a tad with the raised platform to adjust position of the dslr but its essentially the same. I bought all the bits back then to make it but had a hard time making it work with my gh1. maybe that camera plate you added was the key. is it adjustable? looks fixed. pretty nifty counterweight design you got there too.
