Any info on B&H regarding 7D?

Talked to a Ritz Camera store manager this weekend in Annapolis. She said they'd have Them around the 11th or so as well. I wonder if adorama and the like have that street date as well now?
 
How is it my local dealer in Montreal is getting them on the 1st and it comes later in the states?
 
I was able to pre order it from B&H on Aug31. I noticed it wasn't available online so I called them and asked so they may have been taking pre orders for quite some time now.

hmm, i'll try and find this post. In the meanwhile, i'll wait until my credit card has been charged. That will let me know for sure :)

How does one exactly "hog" a pre-order? If 100 people are on a preorder list, and let's say half of them cancel their orders before the camera is shipped, it just means everyone else moves up in the queue. No harm no foul. And remember, there are even some moderators here who have/had multiple pre-orders. There's no rules against it. If you don't do it (as I have found) you can wait a VERY long time for your camera. The choice is yours.

I just wanted to warn people that BH is charging cards BEFORE they ship. If you're OK with that, then I recommend you put your order in there.
 
I actually would have preferred to have my card billed when ordering, if for some reason your credit card is declined due to a large purchase amount you probably have to get in the back of the line.

Not always, and certainly not usually the case with smaller vendors. Smaller vendors in particular use pre-orders to gauge demand and decide how many they should request from the distributor. If you don't intend to take delivery of an item you shouldn't place the order.
 
Spoke with a CC/TD representative, and they still confirm an Oct 1st shipping date (which is realistic imo considering the availability of 7ds across the world). Tried upgrading my shipping...no go cause of paypal :(. But it'd probably arrive here in Tx in 3 days cause its shipping from their Illinois warehouse.

Not so. I had to call the credit card company to OK the my 7D purchase just now at ABT. No place in line lost. I just called ABT after the fact and they processed the rest of the order.

True dat. I was surprised at how many companies are closed right now (BH, Adorama, Abe's). In fact, I can't cancel my Adorama order because no one is there.

I suppose that's a valid reason. I only ordered at large places anyway. No one is forcing anyone to do anything. If you don't mind being charged for something you don't have, and may not get for weeks, then feel free to vote with your credit card. Or if you want to wait in one line cause you morally think thats right, more power to you. All I'm saying is that no laws are being broken, and multiple preorders are a way of life nowadays if you want to get a 'hot' item. Choose your own adventure. ;-)
 
Yeah, a crappy time for the 7D to drop, what with all the Jewish holidays.

I'll probably wait till December for Santa to bring me one. (ie. Xmas bonus $$) Until then, I'll be watching the boards for your reviews & vids. :thumbsup:

What part of Texas? Houston here. I usually get things in 3 business days with UPS ground from TD.
 
Just in case anyone missed it in one of the many other shipping/retailer threads, Newegg has officially listed the 7D's release date as 10/01 as well. Just canceled my Best Buy order, although no free shipping with Newegg...

I just placed an order for 2 on Newegg. I used my preferred account so hopefully that will go through :undecided
They only have the Kit, no body only version.
