Any info on B&H regarding 7D?

Well B&H finally started accepting orders today (at least today is when I noticed it) although the online store was closed when I found it. They re-opened the online store at 8 pm EDT tonight...so I wonder what is up with their stock?

Anyone else order from them? I did not have a pre-order anywhere else (such as Tiger Direct, Adorama, or Best Buy) and figured by now I would be so far down on the list it wouldn't matter anyway. So I went ahead an ordered from B&H. Hope it works out okay and doesn't take too long to get.

Anyone got any info on B&H...anyone talked to them and sought out a timeline for them filling orders? I know some people here were calling Amazon and some others to see if they could find out the deal.

Regards,

My Best Buy pre-order now lists a firm release date of October 11th, for what it's worth. I made the reservation about a week and a half ago.

Whoa, be aware of this line if you pre-order the 7D on B&H...

"Your card will be charged upon placing the order"

No thanks, I'll stick with the 3 businesses I have preorders at who don't charge until the camera ships.

I personally think this is crap, regarding the U.S. delayed release. I can't fathom why Canon would ship our retailers shipments later than Europe and Asia. It almost makes me mad. I mean granted it's cheaper in the U.S. from what I understand, but that couple hundred dollar price difference in no way justifies a 2week give or take a few day delay.

Don't you mean "I'll stick with one of the three businesses I've requested to order cameras for myself yet don't actually intend to take delivery of but one of those cameras"?

Maybe they assume that if you order it, you actually want it. Makes good business sense, I think, so they don't have to deal with some moron who may or may not actually buy it and they can decide how many actual cameras they actually need to have in stock.

From my understanding, it isn't as though you can walk into any camera store in Canada, UK, Beijing, etc and pick up a couple of 7Ds. Its only a couple of very specific stores and with, at least from what I've heard, very limited stocks.

With major releases like this, some stores are motivated to sell early in the hopes of getting extra business. Of course, if the stores are identified, its less likely Canon will include them in early batches in the future.

It's likely that some stores in the US have received 7Ds, but are more willing to wait for Canon's release announcement because they already have a couple hundred preorders (which will probably outpace their supply), meaning the opportunity cost of potentially slipping from Canon's favor for no additional revenue is absurd.

I'm waiting for the dust to settle before I buy anything. If I get the 7D I want the kit lens. I'd use my Nikons glass on it for video, but for pictures I want autofocus.

The online store might be open again. I don't see a pop up saying they are closed now.

Damn...I also pre-ordered the 7D from Best Buy and I was hoping I would have it before my trip to Miami to attend an auto rally at an airport. :(

A Best Buy near me says they will receive the camera tomorrow or Tuesday, AND they said they'd sell one to me... maybe they were misinformed and over looked the 'hard release date'?

very interesting Chance White, be sure and post how that pans out. That'd be a hilarious +2pts for Best Buy if they "screwed" that one up.

And by screwed I mean awesome. That'd be huge.

Yes that would be hugely awesome and everyone here will definitely know about it if that happens. So what is the official street date? Is there a 'strict' official one? I hope not.

it seems that hasn't been an official announced street date. especially with canadia, the uk and asia having the camera in stores already. and now with rumors of some stores in the US having stock. this is all confusing so far... all these major US companies are being too wishy washy with this camera release. they know when they are getting it, why can't they just tell us!!!!!

I talked to the best buy regional manager and he said it had a hard street date on the 11th... and it would be illegal for any Best buy employee to sell it before this date...

I'm showing the same thing now! Ordered 9/23. I'm ok that it seems to be a bit later than some, because at least it sounds like that's a FIRM ship date!
