any downsides to T2i?

Sold the 7d and just want to know of any disappointments T2i owners are having before I buy. Lets just start a list (obviously all DSLR have some similiar issues):

1. rolling shutter
2. file size shut off

im still hanging on to my 7D, but i kinda wonder if i should sell and get a T2i instead and use the extra $500 or so for more gear? glass

"The Downfall of the T2i " sounded like a History Channel documentary about Hitler's failed Secret Weapon or James Cameron's aborted sequel to Terminator 2. :) try pitfalls?

the two points you mentioned are not really points at all because they are the same as the 7D

the only two issues that separate video shooting between the t2i and 7d are already mentioned many times in many threads, they are

iso increments at 1 stop instead of 1/3rd stops (ie t2i has 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600 etc)
and white balance on the t2i has no kelvin adjustments

edit:
talk about a flame enciting thread title
:kali:
:violent5:
:nads:
2nd edit: looks like mods very sensibly changed the thread title!

1) No HD output, only SD.
2) 7d is better for handheld work
3) 7d and 5d share same battery, handy if you are on a multi-cam shoot
4) Better still capabilities
6) 7d has more ISO options
7) Mystery firmware update in the works...

EeL Producer...thanks for the points! i'm still on the fence between the 7D and the T21...

when you say better for handheld, is that b/c of the bigger body the 7D has?

I think the weight is what ppl are moaning about. seriously, if its that much aof a problem, just screw on a chunk of metal to the bottom.

As far as I know 7D hdmi output is 480p which is less than half the resolution of the LCD on the back of the cam.
The signal is then displayed at 1080i or whatever u want on your HD monitor.

When I used EOS utility Live view via usb to my 7D I got res larger than 480p. This is identical with my t2i.

Fewer features and same issues as 7D/5D. Think of it as the almost but not quite as hot twin sister and you should be fine.

No, unlike the 5D and apparently the T2i, the 7D actually gets an HD image to external monitors that works for critical focus (this is from Bloom's workshop, and several other places.) It's an odd resolution, not full 1080p, but better than standard def.

LOL !
very accurate description.

Anyone trying to decide between the t2i/7D should also ask themselves if they are doing stills because with stills the 7D blows the t2i out the water.
19 points of AF compared to 9 points

Another big thing is the t2i is not weather sealed so when you step in from the cold to your warm home
and your glasses fog up,
and you cheap kit lens gets moisture fogging in it,
and your canon L glass is fine,
and your 7d is fine,
and your t2i isn't.

Keep your non weather sealed kit in its bag in the house till it equalizes temp.

edit:
i think everyone should be careful with all of these DSLR's GH1, 5D, 7D and 2ti
don't get too attached to them!
they all line skip, moire, have agc audio, they are all a stop gap, never forget that

The display output from the HDMI is higher than 480p. When hitting record on the T2I, it decreases in resolution - where the 7D doesn't.

Having an external 7"/8" LCD plugged via HDMI to the T2i, is it enough for a correct focus in all situations? Or the LCD is useless due to the lowres output of the T2i while recording ?
Just to clarify this :)
