NEW 1024x768 HD Monitor

Is it possible to have both options available?

Is it possible to have both options available?

Can you have the panasonic battery option as well as use the Techion option when needed?

Just a quick update.

This past Wednesday, I was helping Brian of RedRock Micro at the Mole Richardson Studios in Hollywood with a shoot he was producing.
What kind of arm did you use (see e.g. pic MoleRichardson-17.jpg)? I assume that you would deliver your monitor to Switzerland too.

Yes, this is still the introductory price. I will be raising the price pretty soon.

As you know its a steal at the moment. and even after raising the price it will be an amazing deal. Nothing with that resolution, Image quality, Inputs, Viewing angle, and functions exists for even close to my prices. You have to shell about $4000 to be comparing it to mine. (obviously these 4k models also come with waveform monitors which mine don't. but image wise its about the same as mine)

So if you are thinking about it, get it now and save, but know that if you get it at the regular price, you will still be getting a bargain.

Yes, those are exactly my thoughts! I can't believe you have this thing selling so cheap... I am freaking out now man... I might have to borrow some cash to buy it now and then later pay them back... :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

It might not be fun to do it that way but I bet I'll end up saving a few Benjamins if I do that. I know that you also told us that the price, while much more reasonable for what you should be selling it for, it will still be a great deal when compared with what's out there... but I need to save save save for even more ridicolously awesome gear... but this little sucker is like a little holiday's gift for all of us man! I thought I'd end up with the Marshall and now I am going to get something that will blow the Marshall out of the water like that H bomb testing picture of the ships in the middle of the ocean!!! :D

I take it you are not ready to announce the price change date or the price itself?

Still working out the details of the operation I am sure. Well plan carefully bro, cause once more people get to see these they'll be selling like Porsche 911's in LA... lol... Can you give us any info, an approximation of any sort? I would really like to be able to plan my next few months ahead if at all possible.

Where are the pis from THoff? I PM'ed him but never got an answer.

I can NOT wait to get this monitor!

BTW: I am going to go with the Zacuto arm I think... and battery wise I am not sure yet... what would you do Siniarch? Which is your favorite power option?

bgundu,
Yes, you can have the panasonic battery plate and the Tekkeon for when you need it. I've made the system so that you can change your own battery plates. Its modular. You need anton bauer, just change the plate, plug it in and presto. Need Panasonic, remove the Anton bauer Plate, attach the Panasonic plate and presto. Need the Tekkeon on the back of your rig to counter balance the weight. just run the cable from the tekkeon to the monitor.

jjb,
We were using my Noga arm. I believe its the heavy duty one. I bought it at filmtools for about $185. But I've heard that the Zacuto Zamerican Arm is much better. But I bet more pricey as well. :(

UsLatin,
Yes, I'm still working out when the introductory price will be raised. Can't give details until it changes though. (sorry)

As for them selling like prosche 911's, I hope so. Everyone that has seen them thinks they are a great monitor. Even the pros which as I mentioned above are dealing with products MANY times the price of mine. I will be getting mentioned in a magazine soon, and I'm sure that will send tons of orders my way. :)

As for the Zacuto arm, I hear its great.

I've been playing with Luis' monitor the last two days and must say that it is a masterpiece. I did discover that to do a pass-through SDI you need to go in SDI and not component. Having solved that problem (and a problem with a bad SDI cable), I was able to put it to work nicely. I mounted it on a Noga arm to the A-B battery plate of the Zacuto rig.

While I know it is possible to mount to the HVX handle, I somehow just don't feel totally secure with that flimsy handle.

Image is superb and the marking of aspect ratios on the monitor bezel is significant.

I always like seeing products designed by people like Luis, Danny Natovich, and others who are actual shooters and know exactly what it is that shooters need.

Yes... Luis will be mentioned in my DV column in February, so you all now need to line up for his autograph.

Silly question - the model TCHD-01b has one HD-SDI and the model TCHD-01c has two HD-SDI. What type of scenario would drive the need for two HD-SDIs?

Ho...

Ho,

What Brian Said. If you have two cameras and wanted to use the monitor as a director's monitor or a video village, then you could flip from one camera to the other.

The other thing I just thought was. What if you you feed your camera to HD-SDI input 1 and pass that through to HD-SDI input 2. then Theoretically, you could pause video 2. this input could serve as a reference to make sure everyone starts at their initial marks as you watch video 1 and refer to video 2 (which is frozen)?

Not sure if this is feasible. I'll have to check it out when I can get my hands on a HD-SDI output. (and also to see if the side by side function work with 2 HD-SDI inputs)

It is funny that with crazy useful features like a flip and zoom you still have time to give us more, lol... I think I will be getting a Zacuto and the HVX attery mount... not sure yet.

Can you use the Tekkon batteries somehow?

Hi UsLatin,

Yes, you can use the Tekkeon Battery. In fact I prefer two Tekkeon Batteries behind the camera to counter balance the weight in the front.

When on tripod, I put the Panasonic battery plate. But shoulder mount, it just adds more weight.

Again, for those who didn't get to read some of the previous posts. The beauty of this system is that it is modular. you can change your battery plate in 5-10 seconds without even a screwdriver. (thumb screws) So you are no longer tied to a certain battery. Just use what's available on set. :)

Thanks Brian and siniarch. Guess I was thinking in my box of 1 camera and being new to all this. The few bucks extra would be worth it then to get the two HD-SDI inputs. I see another camera being needed in the future and this would help keep costs down. Though I can also see buying another LCD for the second camera. :)

Guess I need to dust off the plastic and pre-order one of these bad boyz ASAP.

Ho... (aka John)

Nice! I thought those plates came off awfully easy when you were demonstrating to us at the HVX LA meeting... but I think I might end up with the dual Tekkon rig for balancing purposes, certainly getting the rubber mounts for them too!

What was the running time for it with two Tekkons again?

Guess I need to dust off the plastic and pre-order one of these bad boyz ASAP.

On the same boat...

USLatin,

Last time I timed the Tekkeon MP3400 they lasted about 2.5hr each with the monitor. So two should last you about 5hrs.

As for the Dual Rubber Mounts for the Tekkeons, I haven't order them, so right now I don't have any in Stock. :( If I see more demand for them, I will order some.

Well if you don't make then that will make my decision harder... :(

All in all I need, inexpensive, long lasting and rail mounted.

I definitely want power from the back of the 60mm rails. I appreciate something that would power multiple devices for other occasions, such as my Laptop...
However 2 Tekkeons don't sound to be as effective as I would like them to be... 5hs might be a ton but I would love to get something that would carry us though a long 1/2 day with no outlets in sight... and what about no outlet full days? I know, those are not likely, but what if ;)

Three of them would take us to ~7.5hs... that starts to sound better, 8hs was the magic number in my head. But that would also be about $400!

What else is out there Siniarch? I know you've mentioned this, but hopefully if you were not too busy you might have other thoughts from additional research since last time you touched the subject? What is your favorite solution thus far?

Ok guys,
want to ask a favor, I need to post about my monitor on DVinfo.net they don't seem to know about it, and when I posted, they removed my post because they say its advertising. If a few of the people here could post there I would appreciate it.

USLatin,
I will come up with a solution pretty soon, that will solve your problem, so hold tight.

Luis

jdajda,
Thank, yes, I'm looking for numbers. In order to keep the prices down, I need to order at least 100 units. Otherwise, my price is way too low. So the more I hear people want it, the more likely I'll place the order.

Spartacus,
hahahah, yes it is advertising. But also, its good information. (in my opinion) If someone were to say, hey guys here is this other option I found, then I think we can all agree that it would benefit the guys at DVinfo. If nothing else, maybe my competitors would start lowering their prices and everyone who want to buy one wins. :)

Best bet would be to speak to them ( Chris Hurd) about taking out a banner advert. That way I should think you would be free to talk about it until the cows come home.

Yes, I agree SIniarch. Your monitor being talked about is only a good thing for everyone due to the economics effect of competition on prices. Unless we could keep it a DVXuser secret :D but that's just not happening for this thing.
I'll post for ya. As soon as I get a new account... there is a lot of abnoxious people there so last time I posted was like years ago with a completely different e-mail. lol...

Siniarch, can you tell me what it is you are working on? Does it involve the Tekeons?
