Another wedding highlight video

looks good! i'd love to hear about your camera setup and the settings you used for color correction.

Tom, that was truly a beautiful video. I am sure they love it. Excellent shots, and cut well.

thanks kev
ya they keep showing all their friends, it's great! Hopefully this gets me some more jobs. I've been thinking about doing weddings full time once i graduate college this winter. It's really good money, just gotta stay busy though.

i shoot 24pa

1/60 shutter, and occasionally use the slow shutter 1/12

at night when there is really low light, i have to actually use the 1/24 shutter and pump up the gain, this makes the footage a lot more soft and home-video-like, but it's the only option if you have no lighting.

all the camera settings are set at 0, i white balance according to the situation, and i use the cine-like gamma.

in post i used a 3-way color corrector to achieve the deep blacks and brighter highlights. I also gave it a yellowish tint to make it have a certain look.

That's about all i can muster - obviously you just have to know the camera and adjust it according to what situation you're in. there's no ONE formula out there, so just keep shooting and learning how the camera reacts to certain situations and you'll be fine.

Awesome.

I shoot b-roll at weddings and I have to shoot 4:3 60i SD out of my 16:9 HDV camera and I hate it.

Your footage looks a lot better than mine. :(

Looks good. Only two things I noticed was the jittery camera tilt-up during the rings exchange and the light flares during the ceremony (were those intentional?)

Looks like everyone jumped in your way right as the bride was entering. And yes, going to a reception without lights is just asking for trouble. It looks like you had a great location to shoot, and I liked the angle of the shot when the limo was leaving.

it took about a few hours to edit. I usually cut the whole wedding first and then just drag the best shots over on the timeline to form the highlight section.

The light flares weren't intentional...that was the one thing that sucked. live and learn right?
