Another test -- getting to the bottom of resolved detail

Okay, so ... here's six shots, featuring two example lines of some random text. Pretend you're at the eye doctor; tell me which one (1 thru 6) looks best and you can read the smallest type most clearly.

I actually see 4,5 and 6 more clearly than I do the first two with #5 being the best. The first looks like too much edge sharpness (IMO).

The biggest difference between these images to MY eyes would appear to be Contrast and Chromatic Aberration.:D

3 and 6 appear to have the most CA on my macbook pro.

1 and 5 are the most "readable" but 1 has more contrast as well as more CA.

3 and 5 are the best. The contrast is awful though. If they had the contrast of #1 they would be much better.

Interesting responses so far.

So the big question is: does anyone think that they'd be able to make out what the 4-point line says, on any of them? If so, please submit your guess of what the "words" are in the 4-point line, and which of the six examples you used.

Used 4 and 5 to conclude: "Pobelciums amcypotl a fdporufyutosurc qweytewthewyRUGFDAE eqr anbevzx A mv n bvnm / jlu poiunltu u m eoonkymyd en zNNHgk jx gk"

It says, "Poefhskef Barrylikestopointouttheflawsinmyawesomecamera, butwhileithurtsmycamerasfeelingsnow it helpsmesleepknowingIdon'tneedexpensive-lenses":Drogar-Dolar(DBG):
