Another test -- getting to the bottom of resolved detail

Interesting responses so far.

So the big question is: does anyone think that they'd be able to make out what the 4-point line says, on any of them? If so, please submit your guess of what the "words" are in the 4-point line, and which of the six examples you used.

Piss easy dude.

"Next time you'll listen to your momma when she tells you carrots are good for your eyes."

I translated line 7 from my village language to 'Kweens Ingilish'

3 and 5 look the most clear to my eyes.

The res isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Looks about on-par with a lowly HF100 to me (though the HF100 is let down by its compression). For the price it sucks though :cheesy: not that anyone buys these DSLRs for their res... the fact that they have such a soft, un-detailed image seems to be a plus to some, what with that being a characteristic of film and all.

#5 seems to be the clearest...
This is as close as I can get (which probably isn't close at all)

EDITED TO ADD:
If any of those are incorrect... I blame your printer.

:)

I think they just have different sharpening level, 5 could be 0 sharpening and 3 could be 1 is my guess.

Very interesting responses.

So -- reveal soon, but the biggest question then is -- are we saying that we can't read the 4-point on any of these? That the 5-point is fairly legible, but the 4-point isn't?

I just tilt my monitor back and I can read every 5 point line....4 point? not a chance

This makes my eyes hurt lol. After viewing a second time #4 might get my vote. Tough to say, but I read this on the first part of 3:

polatkciutums anacypoda fdposruatyutoiure qweytewbewyRUGFDAE

Also, I think in some shots where the 5 point is easier to read, the 4 point might be the harder to read, and vice versa, which is kind of interesting to consider.

i feel like it's the camera at different sharpness levels, with post sharpening to match them as closely as possible.

either that, or the 7D, 5D, and other cameras comparison.

A lot depends on a monitor. I could read some letters on my home 24-inch PVA panel with DVI input, but can't see a thing on my office 19-inch monitor with analog input.
