And the Die Hard titles get goofier and goofier.

I kinda hope McClain does die hard. Give it a good ending and let's move on. :P

Also, if McClane Jr is Shia Labeouf, I'm going to go on a rampage through hollywood.

It almost sounds like a Wayans Brothers spoof. My friend suggested LIVE AND LET DIE HARD. Or Morgan Freeman can be his sidekick and they can call it GET BUSY LIVING, OR GET BUSY DYING HARD.

Die Hard is kind of a weird title when you really examine it though, isn't it?...What does it have to do with the movie at all, except maybe in the thinnest way referring to John McClane as a character who doesn't die easy. But it doesn't tell you anything about the film, or even in hindsight refers to something in the film. Like LETHAL WEAPON, Murtaugh says Riggs should be registered as a lethal weapon. Just shows that you can call a movie anything really so long as it's catchy.

I mentioned to my wife that they were starting a fifth "Die Hard". Her reply: "Die Hard With a Walker?"

The novel it's supposedly based on is called Nothing Lasts Forever.

You're right. Like when I went to go see Taxi Driver, I thought it was a fun care free movie about the zany adventures of driving a cab in NYC. Boy was I surprised!

I was impressed with the last installment (Never being a huge fan of DH2 or DH3).

Die Hard might be the greatest action film ever made; spawning so many rip offs and formulas.

But this film will be in good hands with John Moore helming I think.

Weird though; they had homeboy from the Apple spots in the last one, and now they are bringing back another youngster. Appealing to the new crowd is cool, but I wonder where they will go with this ? I'd play Willis straight up as a 56 year old retired cop and his son as a younger man (Not a KID!) .

But what do I know ?

ROME broke this news on his show yesterday.

The best description of the die hard movies is done by Michael Scott, here.

I love how he gets it mixed up with the terminator, then says its not like he's the terminator.

But yeah um the first movie was fantastic, but enough is enough.

They're going for a younger man; Ben Foster, Paul Dano, Aaron Paul and Paul Walker are all reading for the part apparently. The story involves McClane going to Russia to spring his son from jail and running afoul of Russian terrorists. As a Breaking Bad fan I vote for Aaron Paul, although I have low confidence that this film will be any good.

A good day to Die Hard does sound cheesy (I liked Live Free or Die Hard though!), but if McLaine does actually die in the movie then I'll forgive the title.

I think there's a little more to it, and that it works - a 'die hard' is a holdout, a refuser, someone who won't give up or give in - and that's McClane's character in the movie. It's not just that he's hard to kill (which I think is also a title in use somewhere) but that he's -a- die hard. He just won't give up no matter the odds.

As for new sequel titles, I think they have already passed the point where they should have just released something titled Oh, Just F'ing Die, Already.

A Good Day to Die Hard doesn't work as a title, unless the story somehow involves Klingons.

Yeah, that's cool, but it's kind of meta for an action film, which I appreciate actually. Just noting that it's unusual. Most action movies have bluntly descriptive titles -- Commando, Predator, The Fast and the Furious.
