GH2 Anamorphic adapters/lenses

Hi all! Been reading and learning so much from this forum, you guys are amazing!

Have been drooling over anamorphics lately and am looking for a cheap way to get into the game.

As far as I've understood, the Century Optics with 37mm thread is the only (cheap) one still in production, so this is the one I am considering. But it seems every thread talking about this adapter dies before revealing all its secrets! Wondering if anyone can help me unveil them =)

1. Assuming other adapters will pop up on ebay at some point, is this still the one with most 'bang-for-buck'?

2. I've seen that when coupled with a wide lens, the sides get pretty soft. Does this improve when moving into normal/tele-land?

3. I assume it will vignette a litte in the wide end with my 14-140 (though I heard it works fine with the 14mm), but what other lenses do you think it wil vignette with? I have an FD 50/1.4 (55mm thread), 50/1.8 (52mm thread), 28/2.8 (think it's 52mm also) that I would love to get wide with. Any experience with similar lenses?

4. Is it the small thread in the rear or the relatively small front glass that causes issues?

I got a Century optics 37mm adapter a few months ago, just to start experimenting. So far it's pretty sharp edge to edge using a 50mm lens. Starts to get soft on the edges below 35mm. Almost unusable on the Lumix 14+ zoom lens.

I've seen some videos where the wide shots are just shot with the Lumix lens and cropped in post and intercut with the anamorphic shots.

Neat =)
Do you think 55mm threaded normal/tele lenses will work fine?

You just have to try every lens when you get it. The Lumix 14-45mm can be used only at one focal length without vignetting, at both ends of the zoom it vignettes. It may depend on the adapter ring and how close it comes to your lens. But the Century Optics 52-58mm adapter does not vignette. I just got a 55-37mm step down ring for the 37mm CO adapter and tried a 45-75mm zoom and it is pretty sharp at all focal lengths.

Yeah, if only the 52-58mm was avaliable anywhere for around $300 =/
Thanks for your input jleo, think I'm gonna try out the 37 =)

EDIT: Is the 58mm also sharper at the sides at the same focal length compared to 37mm?

Hi folks,
Recently got a century anamorphic adapter off ebay. there are going for stupid money at the mo ( 450-600 ukp ). I got min for the bargain price of £170.
Problem is the lens was originakky a 16:9 adaptor for a vx100 , pd100,dsr 250. It attaches via a sort of rear bayonet clamp ( which is on the lens ). the rim around the rear element is approx 52mm but it doesn't have any thread.
Is my best ( and probably least expensive option JB Weld which i have some new tubes of and glue a step down ring on the back ?
I intend to use it with Nikon Primes.
just wondering if anyone has any observations or has done anything similar.

Thanks

Steve
