Do I just go ahead and get the Canon one?

My mistake, get the Canon one. You'll lose AF, manual aperture and image stabilization with the Nikon version.

WTF it is $10 more for the Canon one and you get the VC and Autofocus.

Pointless spending the extra money on the VC edition of this lens, to then adapt it, and lose the VC.
