Am I ready to erase my P2 footage?

Sorry to post such a specific question - I am still somewhat of a newbie.

I have shot 720pN footage on my 32 GB p2 card. I filled the card.

I used the P2CMS program to copy footage to my mac - on external hard drive. I am editing on Final Cut pro 6.

Am I ready to erase footage from p2 card? I need it for more footage.

Also - I have shot some footage 720p....can that mix with 720pN footage with no forseeable issue on same sequence in Final Cut Pro?

Thanks for all help!

You have not indicated what frames for the p and pN footage you are intended to mix.

Also, why not buy an inexpensive 1 TB HDD and copy the NO NAME volumes to it as back up.

I would like them to be 24 frames progressive.

I am editing a feature length. So I am planning for a dvd realease, and a possible screening.

I have limited funds. Are you suggesting one backup or two, per each P2 transfer?

While 2 are best, one backup plus the one on your system would be minimum in my mind.
We do a backup on DVD long term, a copy on the laptop until the project is done, a copy on our main edit system and then back up the entire project including GFX and EDL's on a hard drive for long term protection.

In the end we end up with only 2 copies of the files. But during the process we have about 3-4.

I'm not sure I understand.

When you log and transfer clips with FCP, do those logged and transfered clips count as a copy?

Sorry, we don't use FCP. SpeedEDIT simply reads the native files so all we store, backup and use are the native .mxf files. No converting.
Maybe I should put "SpeedEDIT" in my signature so my answers don't confuse people.
