All Hallows Fest

It's POPEfest after all!:)

YES! Glad my ideas are finally being taken seriously around here.

Although I'll probably go with something focusing on this:

Awesome fest idea! I was worried it would be Horror Fest again. I'm not too into horror flicks, and wouldn't have the time to pull together a decent one. But this "darkness" concept, that could be interesting. I'll give it a thought and see if I can give DVX Fest another go. Can't wait for October 31! :)

Wow, this one is so wide open! Gosh, given artistic interpretation, I could declare nearly any movie ever made as being in the theme of "darkness" including the entirety of the Disney catalog....so really the only requirement is a glass of red wine.

Barry_S is the fest administrator and rule-setter, so all interpretations should comply with his decree!

Still a rather open fest (no specific genre defined, etc) but the ruling is that it should have a dark tone. Something to do with Halloween would probably be most fitting as well. But that doesn't mean it's relegated to zombies or horror or gore... interpret as you will, and if you have questions, run your proposal by Barry_S for a quick compliance check.

I'm glad Barry Green brought up Chocolate Rain, because a very very evil part of me wanted to do ChocolateRainFest. This is not that fest. All Hallow's Eve is another name for Halloween, and yes, the films will be shown Halloween weekend. So that should give some idea of how to interpret the theme of darkness. I was just discussing the fest with my 11 year old daughter and I think she summed it up nicely--"The films should creep you out".

Your film should evoke a feeling of something dark, but they don't require zombies, monsters or serials killers--not that there's anything wrong with that. :) A film like Eraserhead takes you to a very dark place. Brazil, a black comedy, is thematically dark. So for this fest we have a unifying tone to the films, rather than a specific genre.

I'm guessing that maybe a Rod Serling era Twilight Zone style would work.... Some of them creep you out.

I'm pretty new to DVXuser, so I don't quite know how I should go about entering. Can I enter? If so, where do I do it?

Anybody can enter, shooting an any camera.

All you have to do is finish by October 26th and submit your film. Be sure to read the specifications first though, so you are eligible for a prize.

Yes you can enter.
Simply make a film according to the rules & guidelines set at the start of this thread. Then watch for instruction on how to deliver your (encode & upload) your film closer to the deadline.

Take a read of one of the past 'fests section's stickies to get an idea of how things happen.

As the newest entrant, you must wear "The Shirt" during your first shooting day. (Ask Tommy and he will make arrangements for you in this regard)
