AG-DVX200 4K Large-Sensor Handheld Camcorder

oh, so the only way is to laboriously go through each scene file setting in the camera and copy it to a spreadsheet! I just want to be able to check exactly what scene file I have loaded and whether it matches the text description that i have.. How did this guy in the earlier post here provide the detail he did? Did he type it out? I just went through it, and discovered one label in the color tables had a typo. It seems that there was only two changes he made to Barry's file. I think I have discovered how to get rid of the magenta look in flesh tones.

A few people that have posted there scene information here have gone to every screen and hand typed the details. At this time, that's the only option.

Have you seen a type out of Scene2.TXT, Scn5 Cine-V posted here? This is the one that seems to be the most popular at the moment

No, you'd probably have to load the SCN and then goto each page. It doesn't take very long to do it but it's kind of a pain in the butt.

When you tweak a scene file to your liking, in my case scene 4, and go to save it on disc, do you have the opportunity just to save that particular SCN4 to any particular Scene file and to that particular SCN4 on disc? I am confused as to how to keep track of what is what. At the moment, I am saving scene file 4 to disc in position scene 4 on the disc and in SCN4...Yes, one is a folder name and one is the actual file, right? Then I take this disc and put it in another camera, put the camera is Scene 4, load SCN4 and Scene 4, and it works. I get the file successfully copied to the other camera. But if I want to have six files, say all of Barry's GH4 files except Scene 4, how do I manage this?
By the way how do I attach a scene file to a post so I can share what I have come up with?

When you save a scene file you don't have the option of saving one individual scene but you do have the ability to load one file into any position that you would like.

I'm doing this from memory so bear with me.

Let's say you have manipulated Barry's SCN4 from his scene2.txt file. You have two choices. One is to save scene2 back to scene2.txt which will rewrite SCN1-SCN6 back to the card's file called scene2.txt. That file will now have your settings in SCN4 and you will have wiped out Barry's SCN4. SCN1,2,3,5 & 6 will still be what Barry had programmed into the scene2.txt file but in position SCN4 will be your updated scene.

Maybe you don't want to overwrite Barrys's SCN4 on the file scene2.txt. You can choose to save your new SCN4 settings to another position, we'll say scene4.txt like you have mentioned above. When you select scene4 it's going to write your current SCN1-SCN6 into position scene4.txt and it will contain Barry's SCN1,2,3,5 & 6 and your modified SCN4. On your card in scene2.txt will still contain all of Barry's original scenes in scene2.txt.

So if you want to share your new SCN4 file with everyone you can put your SD card into your computer and post your scene4.txt and tell us that SCN4 in the text file scene4.txt is the one that you want to share with us. We can then choose to load SCN4 from scene4.txt into any of the SCN's on our camera.

Wow! Hopefully I am making sense.

Okay, you do make sense, but I will have to keep your post with my camera because I am sure I will forget! attached is scene.text as a zip file for assessment. Scene 4 is what has changed. I am not sure what the others are! The Color Correction settings in this file were adjusted to look the same as a Sony A7Rii. If you have this camera, try this look. I think it is pretty close. If nothing else, there is no hint of magenta or yellow in the flesh tones.

I think going forward it will help all of us to refer to scene files is this way.

scenex.txt with x being the number of the scene's txt file in the SD card.

SCN is the actual scene within the .txt file.

An example would be "I used Barry Green's scene2.txt SCN5 on a recent shoot"

I think that keeps things in perspective when people are throwing scene file information around. I think until we get some really great scenes posted by people other than Barry, it will be hard to designate other people's scene files. Being that Barry has done a few scenex.txt files it's going to be hard to keep track of one new file like greytail's SCN4.

Caught with in a tough situation...
Hi all. I am stuck with using the DVX 200 (I don't have enough experience with this camera) as part of a 3-camera shoot tomorrow (along side two Canon C-100 MK II). In a panic and hoping you can answer a quick question:

Which of Barry's scene files would you suggest I use?

SCN1/SCENE1 is Natural
SCN2/SCENE2 is Scenery
SCN3/SCENE3 is Portrait
SCN4/SCENE4 is Cine-D
SCN5/SCENE5 is Cine-V
SCN6/SCENE6 is Standard

I am shooting in daylight balanced light, 7 people on camera, in a moderately lit light environment.
I realize there is no perfect solution, just hoping you can offer your suggestion to help.

Thanks for your input.
Matt

On some earlier posts I saw where a few guys said they had good luck with scene5-Cine-V outdoors. I have only shot indoors and have had good luck inside with scene3-Portrait.

I have 7hr video shoot. I will change cards to back up etc.

1) Do I have to copy scene files onto all the cards?
2) Does DVX200 automatically load them every time I change card? (scene files first copied onto all cards)
3) Is there a way load scene files permanantly than load every time?

Comments please.

As long as you aren't going to want to load a different scene.txt scene during the shoot just keep swapping out cards. The scenes that are in SCN1-SCN6 will stay in the camera.

Do I have to load every time I switch off and on the camera and also change cards??
The camera has internal memory that holds 6 scenes at a time. What's in SCN1-SCN6 will stay there even if you put a card in that's never been in the camera, even if you format that brand new card in the camera, you can still select SCN1-SCN6. As long as you don't want to select a scene that's not stored in the camera in position SCN1-SCN6, the card has no influence on the camera. If you are set for SCN5 and you fill up a card and you put a new card in, you will still be set for SCN5.

The card only comes into play if you want to backup those scenes or recall a different scene that is not currently stored in position SCN1-SCN6 in the camera.

I highly recommend formatting any additional cards that you will need for your shoot prior to using them. Put the card in the camera and use the camera to format the card.

Want to thank the Forum for the super support in the presets, special thanks dereren
at Berry Green and Robert Bale whose I preset at admission for portraits used for the light on the shooting place I have set the Ped to -5 and auto iris on 5 and was very happy with the result.

Thank you mapper65 comments. I am not worried about the default scene files comes with the camera as they will be their no matter what we do.

The issue is I have these custom scene files loaded from SD card.

I have two SD slots and the scene files loads from slot 1 and during the recording, card fill up and had to switch off camera and take out card and insert a new card. In this scenario, Do I load scene files again?

No, the scene files stay on that first card. You will only be able to choose what's been loaded into the camera's memory in SCN1-SCN6 from that point on. If you really need more than SCN1-SCN6 that's currently in your camera your only option is to do this:

1. Make card number 1 like you want it with whatever scene files you may need.
2. Format card number 2 and back up the camera's scene files to any position on card #2 that you want. You're about to wipe them out so it doesn't matter where you back them up. This step is only to create the file structure on the SD card that is required to hold scene files.
3. Insert card #1 into your computer and find the folder with the scenes in it and copy the scene1.txt, scene2.txt etc to a folder on your computer.
4. Eject card 1
5. Insert card 2 into your computer and copy the scenes that you created in step 3 and paste them into the same position on card 2.

You will now have a duplicate card as far as the scenes go. As you can imagine this will take you some time to do this so if you think you'll need 7 cards for your shoot, you'll have to put the time in to do this.

I'm a little stumped as to why you may need more than 6 scenes for a shoot that may be of the same subject but maybe you will be moving around to different areas and you have found that you need more than 6 scenes to cover your shots.

hi, been using the dvx for a little while, generally getting the hang out of it and enjoying using it , but struggling a bit with reds looking a bright brown with indoor lighting any suggestions?
also got a question regarding best settings to alter when filming at conferences where there are extremely bright high contrast tv screens behind/next to the person talking so it doesnt blow out the screen or put person in shadow. would knee be the thing to try there?

Am hoping that sometime the app will work with an iphone rather then just ipad and i would love the ability to send still images wirelessly.
also a menu shortcut on the touchscreen to change between most used formats would be useful as often swapping between 4k and 25p and scrolling through menu is a pain.
also i like the little zoom rocker on the top as it does amazing slow zooms but wish had a shortcut way to adjust the speed esp while recording.
thanks barry for the scene files and the book really its really useful and many contributions on this site have helped me get to grips with the camera

by the way if there are any other freelance dvx200 users in london on here? drop me a line, would be good to know should any multicam shoots come up.

Is there a way of remotely operating the capture function without getting into iPad control? Having it as one of the user buttons is likely to move the camera during a shoot.

I can't think of one. There's no IR remote, there's only the focus/iris/zoom/start-stop functions on the wired remote, so that would leave the iPad as the only possibility (and having not used that feature, I don't know if the iPad would allow for it, you'd have to check with someone who knows for sure).
