AG-DVX200 4K Large-Sensor Handheld Camcorder

Anyone out there been matching gh4 and dvx successfully in outdoor sunlight? I really like shooting Cine-D on the GH4 and although I've gotten pretty good footage match in indoor light, my outdoor experience has been pretty troublesome, even shooting with Barry's recommended Cine-D (Scene 4) scene file. I'm white balancing with a proper card, but maybe I'm not quite exposing properly on the DVX? Anybody having more luck out there?

Here's a little clip of stuff shot indoors that's about equal parts gh4 and DVX, think this stuff looks pretty decent together. Like I said though, these results seem way harder to achieve in outdoor sunlight.

Any guidance is appreciated!

I'd say you're doing pretty well. If there were equal parts of both I was really trying to pick out the shots that were with the DVX200 but couldn't. Looks great!

That looks good also. Are you using SCN4 for both of those clips?

Yes, Cine-D on the GH4 and Barry's scene 4 for DVX. Pleased with the results on those, but most of the time (unless it's overcast) my colors are all over the place when comparing the two cameras outdoors. This could be total user error, I think I still have a lot to learn about the technical aspects of the DVX.

That is now revealed

According to ASUS Inc., the USB-N53 B1 is totally different product from its A1 version, and both are

still mentioned on their website.

USB-N53 B1: https://www.asus.com/Networking/USBN53_B1/
USB-N53 (A1): https://www.asus.com/Networking/USBN53/

We are not sure if A1 version is available in your country/region, please contact your ASUS dealer for that.

The B1 version is quiet new and we also just knew its existence of it.
We are going to notify that on our website as the 'USB-N53 A1' is the certified device to be avoiding
confusion. (currently mention 'USB-N53' only.)

Has anyone had to calibrate their lcd monitor? Mine is grossly different than my viewfinder, external monitor, and the finished product. I started the process, but couldn't find single color settings such as "blue only." Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good point, Brad. I was never able to get the LCD to come close to matching what was being recorded.

Just managed to purchase the A1 version of the Asus USB-N53 and have been struggling about 2 hours to get it work. Finally I had to use the default WIFI password. Futhermore I had to switch USER ACCOUNT off. Otherwise I get an communication error (cannot connect to the camera) on the AG ROP app. Don´t know whether a user account is really necessary.

I am looking for some advise on how to back off the slightly magenta/florid look on a face in natural light without effecting other colors in the scene. I have tried backing off the chroma level to -5 and this nearly gets where I want to be. This is with SCN2, Scene file 4. from Barry's Scene files. I have almost got a match with a Sony A7Rii.

According to the documentation that was released after I put the little tutorial video together you do not need a user account.

Recently I tired to get the new information provided by Panasonic to work on both of my iPads. It worked on the iPad mini 4 but not on the iPad 2. My tutorial worked on both. Not sure what to think so I guess if you can get something to work, that's all that matters. It just doesn't seem like it should be quite as difficult as it seems to be.

I have a question about the app. Does it allow you to view what the camera sees, live view, as you are recording? Its always nice to have an additional monitor while recording. The GH4 has the app called - Panasonic Image App, and in the first generation it gave you live view but as soon as you hit record from the app you lost the live view - it drove me crazy. The next firmware update fixed that and then I (and many others) were happy.

Also on a side note I did some more test shooting on set at the station I work at during a few newscasts. Being in the studio, lighting was great and using Barry's GH4 downloads I shot scn3 and scn5 in 4k. I thought they both looked great but scn3 looked the best to me for in studio. I did not see any visible noise at either setting. What a big difference using the downloaded scene files over factory settings. I'm really surprised that Panasonic let this camera out the door with the way it was set up. Even firmware 1.4 didn't seem to do much for the image. But with the downloaded scene files this camera looks great. Thanks Barry!

this is a movie, I'm not proud because I did not edit it

Skin is still smeared! Every time! If there's noise reduction being applied in camera outside of the scene file settings (such as in V-Log) then the user should and MUST have control over it. There should be a menu item that allows the user to turn it on or off, even choose a level. This, for me, would be the ultimate fix for this camera. My old Z5 is pin sharp compared to the NR this camera applies.
